The Engineer III for the Facilities Group plays a key role in managing the engineering and design of various facilities, including gas compression, liquefied natural gas (LNG), renewable natural gas (RNG), liquid pump stations, gas processing, dehydration, heaters, filter separators, oil and gas pipelines, pipeline metering facilities, and slug catchers. This position collaborates closely with project managers, teams, and clients to ensure successful project execution, meeting cost, schedule, and quality requirements. The role also involves progress reporting and forecasting for cost and schedule.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop specifications, drawings, and design calculations for assigned projects.
- Establish project objectives, estimates, and responsibilities by reviewing client requirements, project proposals, and plans in collaboration with program and project managers.
- Lead the engineering and design efforts for a range of facilities, including gas compression, LNG, RNG, liquid pump stations, and pipeline systems.
- Prepare procurement scopes of work for services, materials, and construction, evaluate proposals, and provide award recommendations.
- Review vendor drawings to ensure compliance with technical specifications, project requirements, codes, standards, and best practices.
- Perform and/or review critical calculations, including pipe and valve sizing, hydraulic and compressor design, and pump design.
- Engage professionally with clients, vendors, regulatory, and permitting agencies.
- Support manhour estimates and proposals for engineering/design work.
- Contribute to overall installed project cost estimates.
- Maintain familiarity with relevant codes and standards, including B31.3, B31.8, CFR 192, CFR 193, CFR 195, NFPA, and NEC.
- Specify materials and equipment for procurement, including creating data sheets and equipment specifications as required.
- Monitor project plans, designs, and specifications, recommending actions to ensure on-time and on-budget delivery while meeting client requirements.
- Ensure compliance with government regulations, safety protocols, and company policies.
- Mentor and supervise engineering staff, providing technical training and knowledge sharing within the discipline.
- Act as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) in one or more engineering areas and expand expertise across disciplines.
- Perform complex engineering calculations and evaluate methodologies, tools, and processes to improve project outcomes.
- Present engineering research, solutions, and recommendations to stakeholders and leadership.
- Lead procurement efforts, including technical specifications, vendor evaluations, and recommendations.
- Conduct field engineering efforts and on-site meetings with clients and stakeholders.
- Take on project management responsibilities, ensuring scope, schedule, and budget adherence.
- Review and redline technical drawings, such as PFDs, P&IDs, and site plans, and collaborate with drafters to develop models and drawing packages.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering from an ABET-accredited institution.
- Professional Engineer (PE) license is highly preferred.
- 6–13+ years of applicable experience, including small, medium, and large-scale facility projects.
- Expertise in renewable natural gas, LNG, gas processing, gas compression, filter/separators, regulators, control valves, and PRVs.
- In-depth knowledge of industry codes and standards, including B31.3, B31.8, and CFR 192.
- Proven ability to independently manage projects, run meetings, and oversee engineering deliverables.
- Strong leadership and project management skills, capable of maintaining scope, schedule, and budget on engineering projects.
