Process Engineer – PCBA Manufacturing
Location : San Jose, CA (Fully Onsite)
Schedule : Monday – Friday, 1st or 2nd Shift
Shift Times : 6:00 AM – 2:30 PM or 2:00 PM – 10:30 PM
Annual Salary Range : $85K – $100K (Flexible for exceptional candidates)
Work Type : Direct Hire or Contract-to-Hire
Kelly Engineering is partnering with our client in San Jose, CA to find a skilled and detail-oriented Process Engineer to join their team.

Key Responsibilities :
- Process Development & Optimization : Oversee and enhance PCBA manufacturing processes, including solder paste application, pick and place, reflow soldering, and inspection.
- Equipment & Technology Selection : Evaluate and select the most effective equipment, tools, and technologies to improve efficiency and yield.
- Quality Control : Implement process control methodologies, conduct tests, inspections, and audits to identify and resolve quality issues.
- Continuous Improvement : Lead or participate in process optimization projects, identifying opportunities for cost reduction, productivity improvements, and increased yield.
- Troubleshooting & Issue Resolution : Analyze data and resolve issues related to equipment malfunctions, material defects, and process variations.
- Training & Support : Provide technical support to production teams and train them on PCBA processes and troubleshooting techniques.
- Collaboration : Work closely with design, component, and manufacturing teams to integrate PCBA processes into production.
Qualifications :
- Relevant Engineering degree preferred.
- Minimum 4 years of experience in the PCBA industry.
- Expertise in developing and optimizing PCBA reflow profiles using profiling software.
- In-depth understanding of SMT processes, reflow, profiling, stencil design, and J-standard.
- Knowledge of pick and place machines, reflow ovens, and the ability to create reflow profiles.
- Familiarity with selective soldering processes, including lead and lead-free.
- Experience with hand soldering and press-fit processes.
- Familiarity with aerospace quality standards (AS9100, IPC/WHMA-A-620D-S) is a plus.
Industry Experience
Candidates must have prior experience working in one or more of the following industries:
- Electronics Manufacturing Services (EMS)
- Aerospace or Defense Manufacturing
