Hyperspectral Application Scientist
The Hyperspectral Application Scientist will serve as the technical expert for hyperspectral product development, marketing, and sales. They will help develop and support our distributor network, with opportunities for international travel. They will also support sales staff and work with engineering and manufacturing teams to create new products. The position is full time, located in the company’s San Diego headquarters.

Responsibilities
This employee is the hyperspectral expert and a critical member of the marketing and sales teams. The employee will work to understand customers’ needs and technical requirements, provide pre- and post-sales support, and communicate directly with end-users and distributors. Some travel is required to visit customers and distributors, and attend, exhibit, and present at conferences. This employee may also author marketing materials such as white papers, application notes, webinars, and social media posts.
Additionally, this employee will be a member of the product development team. They will investigate competing technologies and products, suggest new hyperspectral products, and support product development. They may also co-author SBIR proposals to develop new technologies and products.
Required qualifications
B.S. or M.S. degree in science or engineering.
Knowledge and skills in spectroscopy:
- spectroscopic instrumentation.
- analyses of spectral data.
- real-world applications of spectral data.
Familiarity with calculus and statistics.
Ability to travel internationally.
Desired (but not required) qualifications
Ph.D. degree in science or engineering
Familiarity with:
- computer programming languages such as Python or C#.
- ENVI and MATLAB for hyperspectral image analysis.
Understanding of marketing techniques and sales practices.
