Senior Process Engineer
I’m currently partnered with a cleantech start-up working on a novel electrochemical technology and they are on the search for a strong process engineer with a background in writing engineering packages for metallurgical, oil & gas, Petrochem and/or chemical industries. You do not need experience within cleantech but a passion for sustainability is key.
You must have at least 5 years of experience working within a commercial environment. If you’re interested in learning more and feel like your background could be a good fit get in touch for a more detailed description of the company and technology.
Responsibilities
- Design and document process flow diagrams (PFDs), identifying design variables and aligning with project schedules.
- Develop detailed PFDs with equipment, utility streams, control strategies, instrumentation, and sampling points.
- Select and design equipment, cooling tower experience would be ideal, and lead custom equipment specifications.
- Perform process simulations and modeling using Aspen (or similar software) to create energy and material balances for various process configurations.
- Specify and size operational equipment like pumps, valves, storage tanks, and reactors.
- Estimate preliminary project costs and prepare safety reviews and checklists.
- Collaborate with vendors to create engineering packages, including P&IDs, equipment specs, cost estimates schedules, and operational procedures.
- Support plant commissioning, including water and chemical runs, and sequence testing.
- Conduct P&ID reviews, Process Hazards Analysis (PHA), and implement design improvements.
- Identify and execute process and operational enhancements.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in engineering (preferably Chemical Engineering); advanced degree preferred.
- 5–10+ years of experience in process design and engineering packages for chemical or related industries.
- Proficiency in Aspen Plus or similar modeling tools and cost estimation methodologies.
- Expertise in capital equipment procurement, including technical specifications, supplier evaluation, and commissioning.
- Strong knowledge of regulatory standards and industry practices.
- Self-motivated team player with effective communication skills.
