Job Description

The Packaging Engineering Manager will lead efforts to create innovative, efficient, and sustainable packaging solutions tailored to meet customer and business needs. This role requires a balance of technical expertise, mentorship, and collaboration to improve packaging designs and processes while educating internal teams and customers about advanced materials, systems, and technologies.


Key Responsibilities


  • Inspire and guide the team by setting high standards for project management and outcomes.
  • Mentor junior engineers, reviewing their work, offering constructive feedback, and supporting their professional growth.
  • Ensure all design outputs align with quality and technical expectations.
  • Spearhead R&D initiatives to uncover advancements in packaging technologies, with an emphasis on sustainability and cost reduction.
  • Evaluate and refine existing packaging designs to improve efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Partner with internal teams and clients to develop, test, and validate cutting-edge packaging solutions.
  • Streamline processes for packaging item creation and ERP onboarding, ensuring efficiency and accuracy.
  • Serve as an internal expert on ERP best practices and troubleshoot complex system issues.
  • Oversee the integration of new packaging items into the system, upholding company standards.
  • Educate account executives, managers, and clients on packaging materials, technologies, and innovations.
  • Represent the company as a packaging authority in client meetings, providing actionable insights into market trends and solutions.
  • Assist sales and account teams in effectively communicating packaging concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Conduct detailed market and cost analyses to proactively address customer needs and provide competitive solutions.
  • Align packaging initiatives with client objectives, emphasizing long-term value and sustainability.
  • Lead risk assessments and develop contingency plans for large-scale projects to ensure successful delivery.


Qualifications


  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Design, Packaging Design, Engineering, or a related technical field.
  • 8+ years in packaging design or engineering roles.
  • Strong knowledge of paper, plastic products, folding cartons, corrugated materials, films, and/or printing processes.
  • Hands-on experience with Artios CAD.
  • Proficiency in SolidWorks.
  • Experience operating CAD Table equipment (e.g., ZUND or Kongsberg).
