Reporting to the Senior Vice President, this permanent, full-time leadership role is responsible for managing client finance relationships and work closely with the accounting department (including accounting, accounts payable and specifically portfolio administration) to produce various financial reporting on a timely and accurate basis. In addition, the role will manage the lease administration function for our multi-residential portfolio, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and efficiency in all lease-related activities. This role requires an understanding of applicable tenancy laws, regulations and property management standards across Canada.The base salary is between $140,000 to $180,000 depending on industry experience and exposure plus a significant bonus structure, benefits, RRSPs, and 4 weeks’ vacation. Our client is an advocate for equity and diversity and recognizes the importance of leadership engagement within its framework.ResponsibilitiesProduce top quality and accurate, monthly, quarterly and annual financial reportingManage the day-to-day activities of finance staff to ensure that work is complete and deadlines are metPrepare and analyze cash flows, budgets and other special reports required by clients and managementEnsure that financial and operational reporting is completed on a timely basis (e.g. coordinating year-end audits, preparation of monthly operating statements)Lead a team to manage lease administration and tenant related matters for the portfolio of 20,000+ residential units across CanadaEnsure accuracy and completeness of lease data in Yardi VoyagerMonthly review of rent rolls and vacancy reports to identify anomalies and uphold integrity of lease dataReview and manage tenant related matters such as complex tenant ledgers, rent reduction programs, refunds, collections, disputes, etc.Liaise with external legal counsel and collection agencies on tenant matters related to rent arrears and collectionsAdminister housing agreements and complex rent programs with complete accuracy and a deep understanding of the Residential Tenancy Acts of each operating provinceManage and oversee the application process for Above Guideline Increases and Additional Rent IncreasesLead response to industry trends, regulatory changes, and best practices to ensure proper documentation process and complete complianceQualificationsMinimum of 10 years of relevant experience in property accounting and/or audit, with exposure the multi-residential sectorBachelor’s degree in Accounting, Real Estate, Finance, Business, or a related field.
