Position : Software Controls Engineer

Duration : 6 month contract with extension and/or conversion

Pay range: $50-$70/hr (varies based on qualifications and location)

Location : Onsite 2-3 days per week in any of the locations listed below

An employer is seeking a Software Controls / Robotics Engineer to join a robotics company and work in Seattle , Boston, or Houston .

Responsibilities include:

*Design, simplify, and continuously improve system controls architecture including machine control code, networking, electrical design and safety design

*Develop controls code utilizing structured text on Codesys and RSLogix 5000 platforms

*Identify and implement system optimizations

*Debug internal and field issues; develop tools and best practices for system monitoring and troubleshooting

*Contribute to value engineering of the system's electrical and controls hardware components

*Onsite support at test facilities in: Boston, MA or Seattle, WA or Houston, TX

* 24/7 on-call support on a rotating schedule (once every seven weeks)

$50/hour to $70/hour Exact compensation may vary based on several factors, including skills, experience, and education. REQUIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

* 2+ years of experience designing, developing, and implementing machine motion-control and axes-control systems for complex industrial automation products

* Object Oriented Programming skills with C/C++, Java, Python, or similar languages

* Experience with localization/computer vision OR hands-on control system experience in PLC and structured-text controls design

* Experience in testing and implementing machine software (embedded operating systems and programming) and integrating software onto a device

NICE TO HAVE SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

* Control system working experience in PLC and Structured Text-based controls design, development, implementation and support

* Experience developing controls code utilizing Codesys platform

* Experience with industrial automation/3-phase electrical design and systems

* Experience with TCIP and industrial networks

* Experience with industrial automation safety design

* Experience with HMI design and development
