An aerospace client is looking for a CNC Machinist who will set up and operate a variety of machine tools such as lathes, milling machines, shapers, planers, and precision grinders to make metal parts, mechanisms, tools, or machines to exact tolerances and dimensions.

Position: CNC Machinist

Pay Rate : $30 to $39/hr. on W2 (depending on experience)

Duration: 12 months or longer

***May have to travel to Goleta on occasion (<10%)***

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Sets up and operates a variety of machine tools such as lathes, milling machines, shapers, planers, and precision grinders to make metal parts, mechanisms, tools, or machines to exact tolerances and dimensions.
• Interprets blueprints, sketches, and engineering specifications; determines the sequence of operations, number of cuts required, and method of setup; uses a variety of machinist hand tools and precision measuring instruments; makes standard shop computations relating to dimensions of work, tooling, feeds, and speeds; measures, marks, and scribes dimensions and reference points to lay out stock for machining; fits and assembles precision parts into mechanical equipment and determines material, parts, and equipment required.
• Some machines may be numerically controlled.
• May monitor and verify quality by statistical process or other control procedures.
• Typically requires completion of a formal apprenticeship or equivalent training and experience.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:

• Must be a US Citizen.
• High School Diploma or equivalent required
• 3+ years of Machining experience
• Familiarity with CNC Mills and machine programming software (for example Mastercam, CAMworks, etc.)
• Familiarity with Manual Mills
• Familiarity with Manual Lathes
• Ability to read and interpret 2D drawings and work instructions (written in English)
• Attention to detail.
