Job Description

Korn Ferry has been retained by a growing regulated water and wastewater utility company looking to expand their Engineering Team. This private organization is currently operating in North America and is part of a large network of experienced water professionals providing safe and reliable service in the growing state of Texas. We’re seeking an experienced Land Specialist to support a variety of land acquisition activities within Texas. This role involves handling easement and land purchases, system capacity planning, engineering coordination, legislative assistance, rate cases, and developer relations. The position also requires flexibility to manage additional projects as they arise.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Land & Easement Research: Investigate deeds and titles to determine ownership and easement rights.
  • Valuation & Negotiation: Assess land and easement values and negotiate terms for acquisitions, leases, or access.
  • Regulatory Analysis: Evaluate water system data to support TCEQ compliance and provide recommendations on alternative exceptions.
  • Engineering Coordination: Collaborate and coordinate with engineers on water distribution and sewer collection mapping projects.
  • Compliance Monitoring: Track operational activities to ensure they meet all leasing or contractual obligations.
  • Legal Coordination: Work closely with general counsel on contract preparation and legal requirements.


Qualifications:

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree required to include Environmental Science or Related Field
  • Experience: Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience, preferably within a water/wastewater utility context to include excellent communication skills and knowledge of state and local procedures pertaining to easement acquisition and handling negotiations with landowners.
  • Technical Skills: Proficient with Microsoft Office and industry-related software.
  • Travel/Licensing: Must hold a valid Texas driver’s license and demonstrate a safe driving record. Role will require some interstate travel within Texas (mileage reimbursement offered) up to 40% maximum.
  • Hybrid work schedule (2 days remote/3 days in office – predetermined).
