The Director of FP&A and Strategic Finance is a strategic leader responsible for overseeing the financial planning and analysis function, driving data-driven insights, and ensuring alignment with Red Roof’s financial goals. Reporting to the Vice President of Accounting, this role also leads the charge in adopting innovative technologies, including automation and AI, to enhance workflows and improve financial operations. This role will act as a strategic partner to the VP of Accounting and act as the catalyst for workflow transformation.
Duties and Responsibilities
Financial Planning & Analysis:
• Develop and manage budgeting, forecasting, and financial modeling processes to support organizational goals.
• Provide actionable insights and recommendations to senior leadership based on financial and operational data.
• Analyze performance metrics, including revenue, expenses, and profitability, to identify trends and opportunities.
• Partner with department leaders to align financial strategies with business objectives.
• Create dynamic dashboards and reports to visualize financial performance and KPIs for leadership.
• Lead the preparation of financial presentations for executive leadership and the board of directors.
Technology-Driven Transformation:
• Lead the implementation of automation tools and AI technologies to optimize accounting and FP&A workflows.
• Collaborate with IT and external vendors to evaluate, select, and deploy advanced financial systems.
• Automate manual processes such as data aggregation, reporting, and variance analysis.
• Leverage AI-driven tools to improve forecasting accuracy and financial scenario modeling.
• Stay informed on emerging financial technologies and integrate best practices into Red Roof’s operations.
Team Leadership & Collaboration:
• Supervise and mentor the FP&A team, fostering a culture of innovation and accountability.
• Collaborate with the accounting team to ensure consistency and accuracy in financial data.
• Act as a key partner to department heads, providing financial guidance and support.
• Build strong relationships across the organization to drive alignment and ensure smooth adoption of new technologies.
Strategic Projects & Initiatives:
• Support the VP of Accounting and FP&A in long-term financial planning and strategic initiatives, such as preparing for a sale or scaling the business.
• Drive projects to improve financial processes, data accuracy, and reporting speed.
• Lead the financial evaluation of key business initiatives, including new products, markets, or franchise models.
Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related field (CFA required, MBA preferred).
• 7+ years of progressive FP&A experience, with at least 2 years in a leadership role, preferably in the hospitality industry or franchise business model.
• Proven expertise in financial modeling, forecasting, and data analysis. Must be strong in financial modeling and scenario analysis.
• Strong proficiency in advanced Excel, financial planning tools, and data visualization platforms (e.g., Tableau, Power BI).
• Experience with automation tools (e.g., Alteryx, UiPath) and AI-powered financial systems is highly desirable.
• Familiarity with ERP systems and accounting and finance workflows.
• Demonstrated ability to lead technology-driven change and process improvement.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills A MUST, with experience presenting to senior leadership.
• Tech Savvy: Comfortable evaluating, adopting, and implementing cutting-edge technologies to enhance financial workflows.
