Senior Payroll Specialist – Tax, Analysis, & Systems

Salary : $82K

Location : Birmingham, MI


Are you a detail-oriented senior payroll professional passionate about precision, tax compliance, and systems analysis? Our client is seeking a Senior Payroll Specialist to bring expertise and energy to their dynamic team. Your Role

As a Senior Payroll Specialist, you will:

  • Process biweekly payroll, ensuring reconciliation of balance sheets and compliance with financial policies.
  • Manage employee data entry, including onboarding, terminations, tax updates, and salary adjustments.
  • Review and verify time submissions from field offices to maintain compliance with Department of Labor regulations.
  • Collaborate with field offices and employees to resolve payroll inquiries promptly.
  • Handle certified payroll billing information and ensure accurate reporting.
  • Conduct audits between systems (ADP/GL, JDE) and address discrepancies.
  • Identify and troubleshoot system issues in collaboration with management.
  • Lead initiatives to enhance payroll processes and maintain best-in-class standards.
  • Manage taxation, workers' compensation, RRSPs, and other compliance requirements.


What You Bring

  • Strong analytical and organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively.
  • Expertise in payroll processing, tax regulations, and labour compliance.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and payroll/time recording software.
  • Exceptional communication skills to support field staff and collaborate with employees at all levels.
  • A proactive, problem-solving mindset with attention to detail.


Your Qualifications

  • Education : Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.
  • Experience : Minimum of 4 years working with payroll and time recording systems, with a proven ability to identify and resolve payroll discrepancies.
