Position Overview:
The Staff Project Controls Specialist will play a key role in supporting the project management team in executing deliverables within established budgets and schedules. The specialist will be responsible for planning, scheduling, and tracking engineering, procurement, and construction activities while ensuring accurate reporting and compliance with project standards.
This role involves direct interaction with clients, subcontractors, and internal stakeholders to support the successful delivery of transmission and distribution projects.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead project controls processes to meet client requirements.
- Communicate effectively with the project management team, client, and subcontractors.
- Utilize Client Planning & Controls software to analyze data, review logs, and generate reports.
- Develop and manage engineering, procurement, and construction schedules using Oracle Primavera P6.
- Review contractor schedules for accuracy and ensure alignment with project/program timelines.
- Support project planning meetings, including the creation of scheduling reports and documentation.
- Perform critical path method (CPM) scheduling and "what-if" scenario analysis.
- Develop and maintain an earned value management system to track project progress.
- Conduct field audits to validate reporting accuracy and adherence to processes.
- Interface with accounting teams to review project costs and contingency allocations.
- Support external audits and perform forensic schedule analysis as needed.
- Ensure quality assurance through inspections of project controls deliverables.
- Comply with all company policies and project standards.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering, construction management, or a related field, with at least 5 years of project controls experience (relevant experience may substitute for a degree).
- Proficiency in Oracle Primavera P6 is preferred.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to collaborate in a professional environment.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office tools, particularly Excel and PowerPoint.
- OSHA 10-hour safety certification.
