We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Estimator to join our dynamic electrical contracting firm. The Estimator will be responsible for preparing accurate and competitive cost estimates for a variety of electrical projects, ranging from residential to commercial and industrial installations. This role is crucial in helping the company secure new projects and maintain profitability.
Key Responsibilities:
- Project Assessment: Review project plans, specifications, and related documents to understand the scope of work and client requirements.
- Cost Estimation: Calculate the cost of labor, materials, equipment, and subcontractor services necessary for project completion.
- Bid Preparation: Develop and submit competitive bids and proposals within specified deadlines.
- Supplier and Subcontractor Coordination: Obtain quotes from suppliers and subcontractors, ensuring that pricing is competitive and meets project specifications.
- Risk Analysis: Identify potential risks and propose strategies to mitigate them in the estimation process.
- Budget Management: Assist in the preparation of project budgets and monitor costs throughout the project lifecycle to ensure they align with the original estimate.
- Collaboration: Work closely with project managers, engineers, and other stakeholders to refine project estimates and budgets.
- Market Analysis: Stay informed about industry trends, market conditions, and pricing to provide accurate and competitive estimates.
- Documentation: Maintain comprehensive records of all estimates, bids, and related documents for future reference.
Qualifications:
- Education: Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field is preferred. Equivalent work experience will also be considered.
- Experience: Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in electrical estimating, preferably within the electrical contracting industry.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in estimating software (such as Accubid, McCormick, or similar) and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Knowledge: Strong understanding of electrical systems, codes, and regulations.
- Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to effectively communicate with clients, team members, and vendors.
- Attention to Detail: High level of accuracy and attention to detail in preparing estimates and bid documents.
- Analytical Skills: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret complex project specifications.
