Job Title: Senior Naval Architect
Location: Hybrid remote sitting 2 days onsite in Washington, D.C.
Duration: 12-month contract to hire
Schedule: Monday-Friday, 8am-5pm
Position Overview: The Senior Naval Architect will be responsible for conducting stability studies, assisting with inclining experiments and weight and stability tests, and overseeing design development. This role requires experience with computer applications related to naval architecture and ship design, as well as knowledge of corrosion principles for surface assets and boats. Familiarity with USN, USCG, IACS, and/or commercial ship design rules and regulations is essential.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct analyses on stability studies, assist with inclining experiments and weight and stability tests, and oversee design development.
- Utilize computer applications related to naval architecture and ship design.
- Apply knowledge of corrosion principles of metals for surface assets and boats.
- Ensure compliance with USN, USCG, IACS, and/or commercial ship design rules and regulations.
- Travel requirements are less than 10%.
Qualifications:
- BS or MS in a Technical, Engineering, or Marine-related degree from an ABET-accredited institution.
- Minimum of 6 years of documented experience in designing functional internal and topside arrangements for marine vessels, preparing functional studies of stability and safety, and conducting studies and calculations for machinery determination.
- Proficiency in MS Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
- Active Secret Clearance.
Highly Desirable:
- Documented experience in a marine or defense environment.
Compensation :
$60/hr to $65/hr.
Exact compensation may vary based on several factors, including skills, experience, and education.
