We’re looking for a creative and driven Social Media Manager to amplify our mission and grow our online presence.

Position Summary:

We are seeking a passionate, brilliant, and innovative Social Media Manager to join our team part-time. In this role, you will develop and implement strategies to expand our social media presence, engage our community, and inspire action. This is an exciting opportunity to make a meaningful impact while working in a flexible, collaborative environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and execute a dynamic social media strategy to support our mission, goals, and campaigns.
  • Create, curate, and schedule engaging, high-quality content across platforms (e.g., Instagram, X, Facebook, LinkedIn, TikTok).
  • Manage social media calendars, monitor trends, and stay updated on platform changes and best practices.
  • Engage with followers by responding to comments, messages, and mentions, fostering a vibrant online community.
  • Collaborate with the team to highlight our programs, events, and initiatives in creative and compelling ways.
  • Analyze social media performance metrics and adjust strategies to maximize growth and engagement.
  • Stay informed about environmental and scientific issues to craft relevant, impactful messaging.

Qualifications:

  • Proven experience managing social media accounts, preferably in a nonprofit or environmental/science-related field.
  • Exceptional writing, editing, and storytelling skills.
  • Passion for environmental conservation, science, and making a difference.
  • Creative mindset with an eye for visuals and design (experience with Canva or similar tools is a plus).
  • Proficiency in social media platforms, analytics tools, and scheduling software (e.g., Hootsuite, Buffer, Meta Business Suite).
  • Self-starter with excellent organizational and time-management skills.
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with a small team.
  • Resides in or near San Diego, CA, with flexibility for occasional in-person meetings or events.
