Position Summary:
We are seeking a passionate, brilliant, and innovative Social Media Manager to join our team part-time. In this role, you will develop and implement strategies to expand our social media presence, engage our community, and inspire action. This is an exciting opportunity to make a meaningful impact while working in a flexible, collaborative environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and execute a dynamic social media strategy to support our mission, goals, and campaigns.
- Create, curate, and schedule engaging, high-quality content across platforms (e.g., Instagram, X, Facebook, LinkedIn, TikTok).
- Manage social media calendars, monitor trends, and stay updated on platform changes and best practices.
- Engage with followers by responding to comments, messages, and mentions, fostering a vibrant online community.
- Collaborate with the team to highlight our programs, events, and initiatives in creative and compelling ways.
- Analyze social media performance metrics and adjust strategies to maximize growth and engagement.
- Stay informed about environmental and scientific issues to craft relevant, impactful messaging.
Qualifications:
- Proven experience managing social media accounts, preferably in a nonprofit or environmental/science-related field.
- Exceptional writing, editing, and storytelling skills.
- Passion for environmental conservation, science, and making a difference.
- Creative mindset with an eye for visuals and design (experience with Canva or similar tools is a plus).
- Proficiency in social media platforms, analytics tools, and scheduling software (e.g., Hootsuite, Buffer, Meta Business Suite).
- Self-starter with excellent organizational and time-management skills.
- Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with a small team.
- Resides in or near San Diego, CA, with flexibility for occasional in-person meetings or events.
