The Role:
The Field Engineer’s primary responsibility is to work with customers, sales associates, operational employees, and management to provide technical support, create solutions to meet customer needs, and be the subject matter expert for Swagelok products, services, and applications. Please note that this role is customer facing and will require frequent in-metro travel to customer sites. In addition, there will be in-state overnight travel and out-of-state travel up to 25% to support out-of-metro customers and participate in continuing education. The Field Engineer reports to the Director of Engineering Services.
What you will do:
- Collaborate with account managers to identify new and growing sales opportunities, earn customer specifications/contracts for future projects, and support the sale of assemblies and services.
- Configure and develop solutions for customers based on business needs using first principles, engineering experience and judgement, and Swagelok product knowledge.
- Perform field service evaluations of customer fluid systems to identify areas of improvement, drive efficiencies, and offer possible solutions via formal reports, ensuring a safety-first mindset throughout.
- Provide technical product and application support to Customer Service and Sales teams for escalated technical customer requests, as well as in-house Custom Solutions team.
- Prepare and deliver technical training presentations that explain products or services to internal and external stakeholders.
- Communicate effectively with the sales team and customers on status and expectations.
- Continually learn about clients’ businesses, their needs, value add, and cultures. Actively pursue training opportunities in order to gain additional knowledge.
- Ensure each opportunity quoted or assembled adheres to the organizational processes and policies and meets Quality standards.

Qualifications:
- Completion of an engineering degree or equivalent technical degree program/industry experience
- At least 2 Years of mechanical, process, chemical or industrial engineering experience; Oil & Gas, Aerospace, Semiconductor, Pharma, or other Industrial/Manufacturing Plant Experience; 5+ years preferred
- The ability to interpret and understand customer applications to develop P&ID and fluid schematics; CAD and ERP/MRP experience preferred
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
- Strong time management and organizational skills
- Detail oriented and consistently complete appropriate tasks within process functions
Physical Requirements:
Must have the ability to lift, push, pull and carry 50lbs or more. Must be comfortable sitting, standing, walking, squatting, and bending throughout shift.
