Laser Welding Engineer -  Battery Cells and Packs
 
LER TechForce is looking for an experienced Welding Engineer to play a crucial role in the production and development of EV battery projects. In this role, you can use your knowledge of laser welding for batteries to make a difference in the automotive industry. Effective communication and attention to details is key, as you will be responsible for creating LiON battery cell and battery pack welding. Candidates should be self-motivated and excel working with cross-functional teams. Individuals with a background in laser welding and battery pack and battery cell welding, and a true problem solver who understands the importance of safety standards would be ideal for this role.

JOB LOCATION:
Hybrid, relocation assistance available from US, Mexico, or Canada
WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING:

• Prepare detailed working diagrams, settings, and parameters of how to set up the laser for optimal welding.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints, technical drawing, schematics and computer-generated reports.
• Research and configure the fixturing for the metals to come together for the best weld.
• Review best practices for LiON battery welding for prismatic cells.
• Responsible for defect rate monitoring, improvement, and product sustainability in manufacturing
• Assist with product and process Continuous Improvement (CI) and development activities
• Participate with Factory Acceptance Test (FAT) Site Acceptance Test (SAT) protocols
• Conduct risk assessments to identify and eliminate potential defects
• Create, maintain, and update various Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) to ensure all operators develop a full understanding of process changes
• Attend & Schedule Weekly Meetings
• Lead and complete reviews

 
WHAT YOU'LL NEED TO BE SUCCESSFUL:

• Bachelors degree in related engineering disciplines
• Minimum of at least 3 years of experience working in a related welding engineering role
• Prior laser welding experience with a demonstrated track record of technical problem solving and quality decision making.
• Prior experience with EV batteries

BENEFITIAL:

• Masters degree in related engineering discipline
• Experience with engine systems, gas or diesel
• IPG (IRE-Polus Group) laser experience is highly desired.
• Some exposure to hybrid, full EV, or hydrogen fuel cell technology
