Visium Resources has been asked to identify qualified candidates for this Roadway Engineer position located in Orlando, FL. This position is a lucrative long-term contract opportunity which is expected to be on-site for a duration of 2 years with a possible extension.
Summary
The Roadway Engineer will be responsible for overseeing the planning, design, and management of capital improvement projects related to roadway infrastructure, including highways, bridges, sidewalks, and other transportation systems. The role includes providing technical expertise in roadway design, managing project timelines, coordinating with internal and external stakeholders. This position requires strong project management skills, knowledge of engineering design software, and the ability to collaborate across various departments to ensure successful project execution.
Job Description:
- Manage all phases of major capital improvement projects, including planning, design, construction, and maintenance of roadway infrastructure, such as highways, bridges, sidewalks, and drainage systems.
- Lead and assist in the design of roadway improvements, including geometric design, alignment, cross-section creation, and pavement design.
- Coordinate the right-of-way (ROW) acquisition process for roadway projects, including preparing ROW plans, supporting the land acquisition process, and working closely with the property owners, legal teams, and other stakeholders involved.
- Assist with the selection of consultants, contract negotiations, and the preparation of engineering design and construction plans. Oversee consultant deliverables and ensure that project requirements and timelines are met.
- Assist in the development of cost estimates for roadway projects, including construction, materials, and right-of-way acquisition. Provide oversight of project budgets and ensure that costs remain within budgetary constraints.
- Assist in reviewing construction plans, ensuring that designs are implemented as per specifications. Coordinate with contractors and ensure that any issues during construction are resolved promptly.
- Ensure all roadway designs and projects comply with local, state, and federal regulations, including those related to safety, environmental impact, and construction standards.
- Perform fieldwork, including site visits and inspections, as needed.
Qualified candidates would have the following:
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering
- Experience in roadway design, major highway improvement projects, bridges, and sidewalks.
- Familiarity with roadway design standards, drainage design, pavement materials, and right-of-way procedures.
- Demonstrated ability to manage and oversee projects, including managing costs, timelines, and resources.
