POSITION SUMMARY:
This position will serve to develop new products. The person in this position will be responsible for technical service and research and development projects in all markets that Chemax services. The new employee's primary role will be leading the oilfield laboratory, so experience in this industry will be particularly valued. This position will also interface directly with sales and customers.
Because of the expansive nature of the markets and products that Chemax offers, the person in this position may specialize in specific markets and industries, but should be knowledgeable about all markets serviced.

Responsibilities:
Formulator/Chemist
The responsibilities listed below are not intended to be a complete list, but rather a list of the primary functions for the position.
- Formulate new products
- Perform performance and functional testing
- Lead full-equipment oilfield service lab (operating OFITE 112-00, Fann 35, ES Meter, API fluid loss, HTHP filtration cell; building mud)
- Perform research and development projects and service requests mostly in oilfield but also in metalworking and industrial cleaning application
- Maintaining laboratory equipment
- Make product recommendations
- Keep an accurate and coherent laboratory notebook
- Provide high quality project reports
- Present findings to internal and external customers
- Prepare samples for trials
- Work with Sales to service key accounts
Requirements:
- Education
- A bachelor's degree in chemistry or a related natural science will be beneficial. The lack of specialized education can be compensated by 10+ years of experience working in a laboratory.
- Technical Skills
- Proficiency in laboratory techniques and familiarity with lab equipment and instruments. This includes preparing chemical solutions, conducting experiments, and analyzing data. Being open to learning new laboratory techniques.
- Experience
- Practical laboratory experience as a laboratory technician/chemist or related position.
Experience in an oilfield service laboratory or knowledge about surfactant chemistry will be a strong advance.
- Other skills
· Ability to perform precise measurements and follow detailed protocols to ensure accurate results.
· Capability to interpret data, troubleshoot experiments, and maintain accurate records.
· Ability to write technical reports and communicate findings effectively with the technical, sales, and purchasing teams.
· Working well within a team to support scientists and other lab personnel in research and development tasks.
