Job Description

The General Manager role is to oversee a multi-faceted high-volume full-service restaurant. As a Maggiano’s Brand Ambassador, you’ll ensure exceptional operations, from the food we serve from our scratch kitchen to the Guest Experience we provide in our restaurant. You’ll provide team leadership and development so that you can work to achieve restaurant goals. This role is restaurant based and requires the ability to work nights and weekends and a minimum expectation of work 50 hours per week. Must be highly organized, have the ability to multi-task, detail oriented and be able to provide clear direction.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee all aspects of restaurant operations and will lead all Management and Team Members
  • Adhere to policies and manage assigned operating systems
  • Ensure collaboration between kitchen and front of house operations
  • Represent the Maggiano’s way by doing “Whatever it Takes” to make the guest and teammates feel special by creating a respectful, positive and professional work environment
  • Manage people by conducting and overseeing the hiring process, along with training, developing and retaining teammates
  • Ability to support and assist with all front of house responsibilities
  • Develop management team in areas including personal growth, operational and financial knowledge, interpersonal skills, and organizational techniques
  • Be responsible for overseeing training for Managers in Teammates, Trainers, Shift Leads, and Managers in Development
  • Conduct leadership meetings and daily huddles to educate teammates on what is happening for the shift, day and the week
  • Identify, address and document teammate discipline problems according to the Maggiano’s Little Italy Handbook and standard operating procedures
  • Take steps to ensure financial metrics are met and involve all managers to achieve results
  • Oversee and adhere to all cash handling procedures
  • Work closely with back of house team to conduct weekly food inventory and manage food cost to align with budgets, along with food and supply ordering
  • Focus on and ensure execution of all food, service, and facility standards
  • Be responsible for achieving monthly sales and profit targets and analyzing/interpreting metrics
  • Uphold all applicable policies and requirements of employment laws
  • Make appropriate judgement calls under stressful conditions including teammate and guest related issues
  • Identify, address and document individual teammate discipline problems
  • Create respectful and fair relationships within the restaurant

  • Perform other duties as assigned


Qualifications


  • Minimum of 2 years of General Manager experience in a full-service restaurant. Scratch kitchen experience preferred.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to read, understand and communicate in English
  • Demonstrates financial acumen
  • Extensive food knowledge and standards
  • Must be able to multitask and be able to perform calmly and effectively under pressure
  • Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 lbs.
  • Must be able to stand and or walk for the duration of a shift
  • Must have the ability to work at a minimum of 50 hours a week
  • Must be able to work flexible shifts and schedules including nights, weekends and some holidays.
  • Must be proficient in technology, including: kitchen systems, POS systems and Microsoft Office.
  • Must be able to accept and give constructive feedback
  • Must maintain a professional image by adhering to guidelines in the Maggiano’s Little Italy Handbook
  • Must be able to refrain from smoking for the duration of a shift
