Prime Retail Services has an immediate opening for a full-time Safety Manager to work Hybrid (3 in / 2 Remote) out of our Northeast Metro Atlanta office in Flowery Branch, GA. We are looking for someone who is willing to travel about 25-35% of the time.


We are in need of an experienced and passionate safety expert to join our team and help lead our growing organization in exceeding safety standards.

Summary/Objective:


The Safety Manager is responsible for leading a team to increase company profitability by driving adoption of construction safety culture and practice which will result in reducing accidents and incidents and their associated costs through a broad-based approach of policy, training, and reinforcement.


The Safety Manager must be passionate about the business impact a best-in-class safety program can make and must be able to articulate that passion to senior leaders and day laborers alike.


The Safety Manager works closely with the Corporate Leadership Team to advise operations leaders on the performance of their teams regarding safe and compliant working conduct.


The Safety Manager collaborates with risk management stakeholders to monitor and report on risk ratings and claims and to manage costs. The employee needs to be a highly motivated self-starter, willing to travel, and committed driving the company to achieve and maintain the highest safety standards.


Essential Functions:

  • Personally adhere to and Champion safety daily and inspire a culture of safety throughout the organization
  • Build Out and Manage a robust safety training program to provide effective training to all employees
  • Build/manage and implement a robust safety reporting process for senior leadership
  • Lead the safety team to remain focused on priorities, meet milestones, and execute a safety strategy
  • Maintain comprehensive knowledge of all government safety regulations where company operates (Local, State, Federal)
  • Manage the documentation of all safety training, qualifications, certifications, etc
  • Ensure that each employee understands how and why to perform their work safely
  • Work with operations to ensure that employees have the PPE to support safety protocols
  • Ensure that each employee follows all safety and health policies, procedures, and practices
  • Establish, modify, and manage safety/environmental policies and programs for compliance
  • Create, implement, and enforce polices to reflect client expectations
  • Manage and supervise the periodic safety inspection(s) of a sample of all worksites
  • Lead the team in the investigation and documentation of all occupational injuries
  • Lead all interactions with OSHA and other government bodies and/or client teams
  • Successfully identify and correct unsafe conditions and unsafe acts and document the result(s)
  • Obtain additional OSHA and safety training(s) as required to meet company need
  • Fairly evaluate and coach direct report(s) to strengthen the safety team and company
  • Responsible for presenting to the Corporate Leadership Team frequently
  • Based on insight from stakeholders, guide Corporate Leadership decisions on policies and practice
  • Ability to Interact with insurance carriers, brokers, adjusters, and legal teams to manage claims
  • Agility: keen knack to modify/change responsibilities to meet the changing needs of the company

 REQUIRED EXPERIENCE:

  • Prior experience as a Safety Manager or Assistant Safety Manager in the construction industry
  • Demonstrated ability to design, build, and organize a well-operating safety function with minimal oversight
  • Demonstrated ability to manage a team to meet safety program requirements
  • Ability to drive safety priorities and obtain buy-in from operations leadership
  • Proven ability to successfully operate in a fast-moving entrepreneurial, and cross-functional environment
  • Proven ability to maintain effective working relationships with all employees throughout the company
  • Expert knowledge of all relevant state and federal regulations for safety, health, and worker’s compensation
  • Clear understanding of the business needs behind good safety programs
  • Demonstrated experience creating and managing a budget
  • Significant experience interacting directly with senior and executive leadership with excellent business communication, meeting management, time management, and focus
  • Advanced computer literacy with Excel, Word, and PowerPoint required 


PREFERRED EXPERIENCE:

  • Supervised a team
  • 5-10 Years of Safety in the Construction Industry
  • At least one (1) year as a trainer/instructor in any industry 
  • Experience with multi-division construction companies that do business in multiple states
  • Prior insurance and/or risk management experience (adjuster/claims management)


REQUIRED EDUCATION:

  • Appropriate industry certification (CSP, CSM, etc)
  • Bachelor’s degree in occupational health & safety, construction management, or other relevant field


PREFERRED EDUCATION:

•       OHSA Training Institute

•       OSHA Certificate Program in Construction


WORKING ENVIRONMENT:

The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job.

•       Moderate noise (office with computers, phone, and printers, light traffic, construction sites)

•       Some confined areas

•       Sitting at a computer terminal for an extended period of time

•       Work outdoors in all types of weather

•       Client Project sites, including warehouse like facilities and construction sites

•       Travel by vehicle, plane, or train to remote sites


PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

o  stand, sit, talk, hear, and use hands and fingers to operate a computer and telephone

•       Have full range of mobility in upper and lower body

•       Be able to work in various positions, including, but not limited to:

o  Walking, stooping, bending over, sitting, kneeling, squatting        

•       May require use of ladders and/or powered lifts

•       May be required to operate a motor vehicle

•       Walking up and down inclines and on uneven land/ground

•       Be able to lift up to 50 pounds of weight frequently throughout the assigned workday

•       Ability to sit for an extended time in a car, plane, or train to travel to job sites
