We are looking for a dedicated and skilled Child Psychologist to join our team and make a positive impact on the lives of children in our community.
Job Summary: The Child Psychologist will work with children and adolescents to diagnose and treat a wide range of mental health issues, including but not limited to anxiety, depression, ADHD, trauma, behavioral disorders, and family dynamics. This role involves conducting assessments, providing individual, group, and family therapy. The Child Psychologist will work closely with our Child Psychiatrist, as well as with parents, educators, and other healthcare professionals to develop, and implement comprehensive treatment plans for patients.
Key Responsibilities: - Assessment & Diagnosis :
- Conduct thorough psychological evaluations using a variety of assessment tools (e.g., interviews, questionnaires, standardized tests).
- Evaluate children’s emotional, cognitive, and behavioral development.
- Diagnose mental health conditions and provide recommendations for treatment.
- Therapeutic Intervention :
- Provide individual, family, and group therapy to children and adolescents.
- Employ evidence-based therapeutic techniques such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Play Therapy, and other child-centered approaches.
- Design and implement treatment plans tailored to each child's needs, progress, and goals.
- Collaboration & Consultation :
- Work closely with parents and caregivers to offer guidance, support, and education on managing behavioral or emotional challenges at home.
- Collaborate with our Child Psychiatrist, teachers, school counselors, and other healthcare professionals to ensure a holistic, integrated approach to the child's treatment.
- Maintain confidentiality while working within interdisciplinary teams.
- Crisis Intervention :
- Provide crisis intervention as needed for children experiencing acute emotional distress or mental health emergencies.
- Develop safety plans and provide immediate support for children at risk.
- Record-Keeping & Documentation :
- Maintain accurate, up-to-date clinical records, including notes on assessments, treatment plans, progress, and any relevant communications.
- Ensure that all documentation complies with legal, ethical, and organizational standards.
- Professional Development :
- Stay up-to-date with the latest research, techniques, and best practices in child psychology.
- Participate in ongoing training, workshops, and professional development opportunities.
Qualifications: - Education :
- Doctoral degree (Ph.D. or Psy.D.) in Clinical Psychology, Child Psychology, or a closely related field.
- Licensing & Certification :
- Valid and active state license to practice psychology (e.g., Licensed Psychologist, Clinical Psychologist).
- Certification in relevant therapeutic techniques (e.g., CBT, Play Therapy) is a plus.
- Experience :
- At least 5 years of experience working with children, adolescents, and families in a clinical or therapeutic setting.
- Experience with a variety of therapeutic modalities (e.g., CBT, behavioral therapy, family therapy)
- Knowledge of art, or music as a therapeutic modality - a plus
- Prior experience in conducting psychological assessments and developing treatment plans.
- Skills & Competencies :
- Strong knowledge of child development and mental health disorders.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to engage children and their families.
- Empathy, patience, and a non-judgmental approach.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
Working Conditions: - Part-time contract position with the ability to see 5-8 clients per week.
- Flexibility in work hours, with the possibility of evening or weekend appointments depending on client needs.
- Office-based with potential for telehealth services.
