Complete Description:
The Associate Research Technologist is responsible for assisting Product Developers in the ongoing development and improvement of products and processes at the company.
This role will perform a variety of tasks in a Research and Development setting including benchtop sample creation, pilot plant support, analytical testing of food and beverage, shipping & receiving, and material management.
Responsibilities:
- Support Product Developers in the design, industrial implementation, and launch follow up of products renovation for cost optimization purpose
- Execute benchtop work (i.e. Sample mixing and hand packaging)
- Organize tasting sessions and collecting feedback
- Collect and analyse data (basic statistical review) from pilot, industrial trials, and launch follow up
- Coordinate logistics for raw material and samples delivery/acquisition
- Support ingredient and finished product and process documentations (specifications, food safety documents,…), as well as nutrition facts labelling – data entry in system, specifications routing for approval, etc.
- Analyse statistical and technical data while identifying trends that translates to the development of the product and the specification.
- Collaborate with suppliers to obtain best results for product development (brief suppliers and follow up on their progress)
- The employee is required to be able to taste and smell various food products and detect various attributes including taste, Odor, and/or texture
- This position is responsible for assisting with, organizing and performing a variety of physical and analytical tasks under general supervision
- Support pilot plant team with trials (as needed)
- Support shelf-life studies (analytical and sensory testing)
- Manage packing and shipping of products (weekly)
- Manage unpacking and organizing of packages received (weekly)
- Responsible for maintaining analytical equipment and running product analysis (weekly)
- Other duties as assigned
Qualifications Required:
Bachelor’s degree or higher in Food Science or closely related field preferred.
Minimum 1 years of experience in manufacturing/lab environment/CPG
Basic understanding of food safety and handling procedures
Basic understanding of lab safety rules and procedures
Preferred Qualifications:
Technical understanding on product formulation, industrial processes and manufacturing practices, preferred knowledge and experience working on dairy
