Targeted Salary: $90,000 - $100,000 (based on experience, education, certifications, etc. - full benefit coverage and time off options included)
Must-haves
- Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field, or equivalent work experience.
- 3+ years of experience in systems engineering, administration, or related roles.
- Proficiency in VMware virtualization technologies.
- Hands-on experience with AWS services, including EC2, S3, RDS, and IAM.
- Basic understanding of Azure cloud services.
- Strong knowledge of network topology, system architecture, and security best practices.
Plusses
- Certifications such as AWS Certified Solutions Architect, VMware VCP, or Azure Fundamentals.
- Experience in scripting and automation (e.g., PowerShell, Python, or Bash).
- Familiarity with ITIL processes and methodologies.
- Knowledge of SaaS application support and operations.
Day-to-Day
The Systems Engineer will be responsible for monitoring, maintaining, and optimizing all infrastructure. This includes on-premises systems, cloud environments, and SaaS applications. The role requires a proactive and skilled professional who can architect and implement solutions to reduce technical debt, troubleshoot and resolve issues, and maintain robust documentation and processes.
- Systems Monitoring & Maintenance:
- Oversee the health, performance, and security of the company’s blade architecture with VMware on-premises systems and AWS cloud infrastructure.
- Monitor and support a small Azure footprint for specific workloads.
- Manage and maintain Active Directory, Azure, and AWS user accounts and systems.
- Optimization & Architecture:
- Architect and implement solutions to optimize systems for performance and cost efficiency.
- Identify opportunities to reduce technical debt through process improvements and system upgrades.
- Troubleshooting & Resolution:
- Respond to and resolve system outages, ensuring minimal downtime.
- Conduct root cause analysis and implement preventive measures to avoid recurring issues.
- Process & Documentation:
- Develop, maintain, and improve system documentation, including runbooks, network diagrams, and architectural schematics.
- Establish best practices for system configuration and management to ensure scalability and reliability.
- Collaboration & Support:
- Work closely with cross-functional teams, including software development and data engineering, to support infrastructure needs.
- Provide technical expertise to internal teams and contribute to the success of projects.
