Biomedical Equipment Repair Technician

We are seeking a Biomedical Equipment Repair Technician onsite in San Antonio, TX. The ideal candidate must be able to obtain a Public Trust clearance.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Evaluate repair, install, maintain, calibrate, and inspect medical research equipment and instrumentation, including life-support equipment, standalone equipment and/or components.
- Conduct inspections of new equipment and ensure research equipment meets government's specifications.
- Repair electronic, pneumatic, electro-mechanical and mechanical equipment.
- Perform unscheduled services and assist government in determining parts and accessories necessary to perform repair functions.
- Document the extent and cost of repairs to assist the government in maintaining maintenance logs.
- Compute power and space requirements for installation of medical equipment and installs units to manufacturer's specifications.
- Prepare and submit medical research equipment reports.
- Perform Preventive Maintenance Inspections of medical research equipment to include visual inspections, electrical safety inspections, calibration, and performance verification.
- Assure operational integrity and safety according manufacturer's specifications on research equipment and instrumentation.
- Troubleshoot, diagnose, and correct system and equipment malfunctions.
- Communicate with research staff to provide technical assistance, operating instruction, training, guidance and application of medical research device/systems.
- Ensure adequacy of all medical research equipment, networking and/or LAN integration for departments to include compatibility with existing utilities and existing equipment/components.
- Set up and install new medical research devices.
- Operate a wide variety of Test Measurement and Diagnostic Equipment (TMDE) to include invasive and non-invasive.
- Assist with implementing modification requirements for medical research equipment, including software upgrades.
- Test and classify medical research equipment in current use and recommend serviceability and disposition.
- Input and update required information into the DMLSS database system or equivalent system.
- Respond to equipment hazard alerts, recalls, updates, and incidents.
- Provide service recommendations based on manufacturer guidance, personal knowledge skills, and professional judgment to assist with sustainment development and required documentation.

Minimum Qualifications: (To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.)
- Graduate of a military Biomedical Equipment Specialist/Technician Course or an Associate's or Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college in Biomedical Equipment Technology or Engineering is desirable.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Able to understand, operate, and interpret specialized TMDE that supports complex equipment and systems as well as radiographic/ fluoroscopic energy devices, electrical leakage current testers, defibrillator analyzers, infusion pump testers, and ventilator testers.
- Must be familiar with medical research equipment.
- Must understand how to operate and interpret specialized TMDE that supports complex equipment and systems.
