Job Description

Grow with us:

Life at 1 Hotels is based on a simple idea: the world is beautiful and we want to keep it that way. But we can’t do it alone. That’s why hiring thoughtful and inspiring leaders who understand that our people, collaboration, stellar service, and respect for nature are so important to us.

We are looking for a social type that will join the family and help push us into the future with us as we discover together the true meaning of island life.

With the new definition of luxury being that of experiential, one-off moments, discoveries and tailor-made "bespoke" experiences. A “feet in the sand” luxury entrepreneur is truly the person we are looking for.

The property is phenomenal, with the usual rigors du jour for such a location; beach club, high volume, multi-restaurant, sunset bar, buy local, grow local, a massive edible landscape, cool summer vibes, and all the wellness touches with retreats, speaker series, visiting chefs, and great residential activations. So, third-party management, team building, innovation & financial stealth will win the day.

The Opportunity:

We are seeking a forward-thinking experienced luxury executive to operate our incredible 1 Hotel in the beautiful Hanalei Bay, Kauai. Our ideal Managing Director is someone who loves our mission and supports it wholeheartedly with actions, not just words. They will be an inspirational leader who embodies our brand values, embraces our purpose and leads passionately and by example. They are a proven thought leader, an experienced innovator, true tastemaker and luxury hospitality guru. They're energetic, exuberant and impeccably spoken, as well as a beloved leader and mentor for almost anyone on the 1 Hotel Hanalei Bay team. The role will also oversee all aspects of the hotel’s daily operations, from maximizing ROR to going above and beyond to fulfill specific guest requests. You’ll play a key role in supporting the Executive Committee’s achievement of its objectives, and you’ll always represent the best face of the brand.

One more thing: we believe in positive, healthy work environments, no matter what. It’ll be your job to foster one that’s constantly evolving—improving every employee’s work life, and giving them a life outside work. Think culture. In this position, you are a mentor, a teacher, and a student all at the same time - we grow together. It's a team event; without our great staff the hotel is just a collection of nice buildings, and you are very hands-on. You will be the key strategist and pacesetter for tomorrow's 'new version of beach luxury'.You will lead the sustainability, wellness and nutritionally rich cuisine focus of the hotel. It is an island, and therefore remote, so a good sense of self and humor will go a long way and the ability to understand that some things may just take a moment.
