Haugland Group, a privately-owned Long Island, New York-based civil infrastructure and energy construction company has an immediate opportunity for a Union High Voltage Cable Splicer to join our team. As an HV Jointer/Splicer, your work includes the installation of land cable systems rated 69kV and above, including accessories, in various locations within the United States, with the possibility to travel abroad.

Key Functions
- Safe installation, repair and maintenance of high voltage underground cables, strictly following accessory manufacturer’s fitting instructions and processes
- Work safely with no electrical contact incidents or personal injuries
- Assist in fostering a zero-incident safety culture and behavior
- Follow OSHA and company safety rules
- Prepare cables for electrical work according to company quality standards
- Provide field service
- Assist the Team Leader with job planning, hazard avoidance, and recording daily work records
- Work in confined spaces as required
- Work on elevated spaces as required
- Operate company vehicles and equipment
- Perform final checks of cable systems
- Provide positive customer service and perform other duties as assigned
Desired Qualifications
- Relevant work experience as a Cable Splicer (Jointer) or as an experienced Lineman with current certifications/documentation
- Experience with line work, fault location, and repair
- Firm jointing skills, including inline splices and termination of cables
- Ability to read electrical drawings/circuit maps
- Basic computer skills and entry-level proficiency with Outlook, Word, Excel, internet/web
- Understanding of basic construction skills
- Safe work record and a firm commitment to safety
- Eligibility to work in the United States and possess a valid driver’s license
- Ability to travel domestically (required) and internationally (training)
- Conditions may vary based on assignment
The successful candidate will be someone who can work under pressure and is prepared to go on a service project at short notice. This position requires commitment, great accuracy, technical aptitude, and the ability to work independently as well as in a team.
Furthermore, we are looking for someone who has valuable education and/or years of splicing work experience with splices and terminations and has a good understanding of cables. In this role, you must be willing to be trained and be prepared for work on-site in the field. In your role as a High Voltage Jointer/Splicer, you must also be flexible to work the days and hours necessary to successfully meet customer needs.
