Homewerks Worldwide, LLC, a leading import distributor of home improvement products for major retailers is seeking a Senior Data Engineer to join our Operations Team. Position Summary
The Senior Data Engineer is responsible for designing, developing, and optimizing data pipelines, reporting solutions, and analytics across the organization. Working closely with IT, finance, and other business stakeholders, this role provides accurate, timely insights that support critical decision-making. Responsibilities include acquiring and integrating data from the Infor Data Lake, building out financial statements, cash flow reports, and other operational reporting, and establishing performance monitoring frameworks to ensure data pipeline efficiency and accuracy. The Senior Data Engineer also provides leadership and mentorship to a reporting analyst, ensuring best practices in data acquisition, transformation, and visualization.

Responsibilities
- Data Acquisition & Integration
o Extract, transform, and integrate data from Infor’s Data Lake and other third-party platforms, APIs, and cloud services
o Collaborate with IT and business stakeholders to design and implement robust ETL/ELT pipelines into an on-premises data warehouse, while also maintaining existing pipelines.
o Leverage Infor Data Fabric tools (e.g., Data Lake, Data Catalog) to ensure data integrity and efficient data flows
o Adhere to cybersecurity protocols and implement safeguards to protect data integrity, including secure data transfer methods, encryption strategies, and robust recovery processes.
o Develop and continuously refine data strategies, staying abreast of emerging tools and technologies to optimize data processes and support evolving business needs
- Reporting & Visualization
o Develop, maintain, and enhance Power BI dashboards and Excel-based reports that are accurate, timely, and aligned with business requirements
o Ensure reporting solutions are scalable, user-friendly, and effectively communicate key insights
- Financial, Operational & Business Acumen
o Drive the build-out of financial statements, cash flow, and other accounting reports to meet organizational and compliance needs
o Apply core financial and accounting principles (e.g., cash application and reconciliation with retailers) when designing relevant data solutions.
o Expand and enhance operational reporting to support data-driven decision-making across various functional areas (e.g., supply chain, inventory, logistics)
o Maintain a foundational understanding of the import/distribution industry, including key performance metrics
- Reporting Leadership & Training
o Supervise and mentor a reporting analyst, guiding them on data acquisition, data migration, reporting, and visualization best practices
o Train business users to interact effectively with reports and dashboards to maximize the value of the information provided
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Information Systems, or a related field (Master’s preferred)
- 5+ years of experience in data engineering, data warehousing, or a related analytics role
- Proven track record designing and managing ETL/ELT processes in on-premise data warehouse environments
- Expertise with Infor Data Fabric, including the Infor Data Lake (data ingestion, extraction, and transformation)
- Solid understanding of relational databases, data modeling, and cloud-based data solutions
- Demonstrated ability to work cross-functionally with technical and non-technical teams
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with attention to detail and accuracy
- Robust understanding of operational transactions, process flows, and associated data structures
- Background or experience with financial statements, accounting reports, and cash flow reporting
Required & Preferred Skills
Required:
o Proficiency in SQL Server or other programming languages commonly used in data engineering
o Proficiency in SSIS (SQL Server Integration Services) for building and optimizing ETL workflows, and strong familiarity with SQL Reporting Services (SSRS) for designing and delivering interactive reports.
o Hands-on experience with Infor Data Fabric (e.g., Data Lake, Data Catalog) for data flows and governance
o Experience building and optimizing data pipelines and architectures to support large-scale data analytics
o Hands-on build expertise with PowerBI and Excel for visualization and reporting
o Solid understanding of financial, accounting, and operational fundamentals to effectively design data solutions that align with business requirements.
o Ability to translate complex data concepts into business-friendly language
o Strong business perspective, ensuring that technical solutions and data initiatives align seamlessly with the organization’s operational and strategic objectives.
o Experience with on-premise data warehouse management and hybrid data solutions
o Experience with Infor ION or other Infor ecosystem integrations
Preferred:
o Background in import/distribution or retail industries
o Data governance or master data management experience
o Certifications in data engineering or cloud technologies (e.g., SQL Server, PowerBi, Data Infrastructure, Data Cubes, or Infor-related certifications)
