The Maintenance Planner and Supervisor is responsible for the effective planning, scheduling, and execution of maintenance activities to ensure the optimal performance and reliability of equipment and facilities. This role combines strategic planning with hands-on supervision, coordinating resources and leading a maintenance team to achieve operational goals efficiently.


ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  • Guide, train, develop, organize, and direct the hourly work force.
  • Ensure that all plant stationary and mobile equipment is operational and ready to respond to changing order demand.
  • Responsible for training, implementation, and enforcement of all USS Company Policies and Procedures, including audit and development activities.
  • Plans and schedules maintenance activities to help Operations meet sales demand.
  • Develop and maintain schedule in close coordination with key partners (Operations and Maintenance leadership).
  • Long term planning including projects, process development, budgeting, continuous improvement, and predictive/preventive maintenance activities.
  • Ensure parts are available and gather parts for work orders handed out to mechanics and operations. Works with vendors on ordering and receiving heavy equipment parts especially caterpillar.
  • Performs cycle counts and manages site inventory.
  • Maintain key performance indicators (KPI’s) including meantime between failures (MTBF), meantime to repair (MTTR), overtime, etc.


EXPERIENCE, KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:

  • 10 years maintenance experience in mining and/or industrial environment; including mechanical, electrical, and process related troubleshooting experience.
  • Bachelor’s degree or diploma in Engineering, Maintenance Management, or a related field (preferred).
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in maintenance planning, supervisory, or functioning lead roles.
  • Experience working with or in Union.
  • Proficiency in JDE or similar Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS).
  • Knowledge of equipment maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair practices.
  • Strong understanding of preventive and predictive maintenance strategies.
  • Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Hubble

  • Excellent organizational and problem-solving skills.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
