JOB SUMMARY
Our client is seeking a Supply Chain Manager responsible for managing the procurement, timely delivery, and competitive pricing of purchased services and outsourced components critical to the organization’s operations.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Oversee the procurement of non-maintenance purchased services and outsourced components for the operations team.
- Source and manage services such as painting, heat treating, machining, core making, metal casting, and assembly while building a high-quality vendor network in collaboration with leadership.
- Coordinate the procurement and delivery of outsourced components (e.g., forgings, castings, steel fabrications) for multi-source and assembly projects.
- Develop and maintain preferred and backup supplier lists based on pricing, delivery reliability, and quality standards.
- Continuously evaluate suppliers to ensure competitive pricing, on-time delivery, and adherence to quality benchmarks, while addressing delivery and quality issues when needed.
- Establish contracts, solicit quotations, and streamline quick-quote processes for key service providers.
- Enhance supplier integration into the organization’s systems for tasks such as quotes, purchase orders, and inventory management.
- Build and sustain strong relationships with key suppliers.
- Provide suppliers with production forecasts to support lead times and capacity planning.
- Issue and manage purchase and work orders as required.
- Assign new work to approved suppliers based on compatibility, delivery performance, and other strategic factors.
- Monitor supplier order statuses and ensure timely deliveries by resolving issues promptly.
- Maintain accurate supplier lead times and collaborate with schedulers to provide precise order acknowledgment dates.
- Implement supplier rating and audit systems for ongoing performance evaluation.
- Share performance feedback with suppliers through regular scorecards.
- Suggest and implement process improvements to enhance quality and reduce lead times.
- Establish and maintain supply chain policies and procedures.
- Coordinate with shipping teams to ensure timely and accurate shipment of products and documentation.
- Verify that suppliers ship completed parts as specified and include required paperwork.
- Contribute to Sales and Operations Planning meetings by providing forecasts and performance updates.
- Ensure the ERP system reflects accurate supplier, routing, and component data.
- Manage work order statuses by recording updates and ensuring prompt closures.
- Optimize inventory policies and conduct periodic counts to maintain accuracy and financial integrity.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Education :
- High School Diploma required.
- Associate’s degree in Business, Procurement, or related field and/or procurement certification required.
- Bachelor’s degree preferred.
- Experience :
- 2–3 years of experience in purchasing and vendor management in manufacturing required.
- Foundry or machine shop experience is preferred.
- Skills & Competencies :
