Position Summary:

The Vice President of Procurement and Vendor Relations will oversee and direct all procurement activities and vendor management strategies for a reputable construction firm in Rhode Island. This role will be responsible for designing and implementing strategies to maximize the value of vendor relationships, optimize cost savings, and ensure that procurement processes support the organization’s goals and objectives. The ideal candidate is a strategic thinker with a strong understanding of supply chain dynamics, contract negotiation, vendor relationship management, and procurement best practices.


Key Responsibilities:


Strategic Leadership

  1. Develop and implement a strategic vision for procurement and vendor management that aligns with the company's goals.
  2. Collaborate with executive leadership to establish long-term procurement and vendor relations strategies that drive operational efficiency and financial growth.

Vendor and Supplier Management

  1. Build, manage, and maintain relationships with key vendors and suppliers to ensure they meet the company’s quality, service, and cost expectations.
  2. Conduct regular performance evaluations of vendors and initiate improvement plans where necessary.
  3. Negotiate contracts and terms with suppliers to secure favorable terms, optimize costs, and mitigate risks.

Procurement Operations

  1. Oversee all procurement activities, including sourcing, RFPs, negotiation, purchasing, and contract management.
  2. Develop and implement policies, procedures, and systems to streamline procurement processes and improve efficiency.
  3. Identify and implement cost-saving and value-enhancing opportunities throughout the procurement lifecycle.

Risk Management and Compliance

  1. Establish risk assessment and mitigation strategies to ensure a reliable and sustainable supply chain.
  2. Ensure compliance with all relevant regulations and standards, including legal, ethical, and corporate social responsibility requirements.
  3. Stay informed on industry trends, market conditions, and regulatory changes that may impact procurement strategies.

Team Development and Leadership

  1. Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing procurement and vendor management team.
  2. Foster a culture of continuous improvement and innovation within the procurement function.
  3. Set performance targets and conduct regular evaluations to ensure the team’s alignment with strategic goals.

Financial Oversight and Budget Management

  1. Develop and manage the procurement budget, setting clear objectives for cost savings, performance metrics, and budget adherence.
  2. Analyze procurement data and financial reports to assess the impact of procurement strategies on the company’s financial performance.
  3. Provide regular updates to the executive team on procurement and vendor performance, cost savings, and strategic initiatives.


Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in supply chain management, Business Administration, or a related field; MBA or equivalent advanced degree preferred.
  • 10+ years of experience in procurement, supply chain management, or vendor relations, with at least 5 years in a leadership role.
  • Proven track record of strategic procurement leadership, including experience in negotiating large, complex contracts and running RFP’s.
  • Strong understanding of procurement technology and systems, as well as data-driven decision-making.
  • Exceptional leadership, communication, and relationship-building skills.
  • Strong business acumen and financial literacy, with the ability to connect procurement strategies to company goals.
  • Able to work remotely with expected travel to Rhode Island HQ every other month for 1-week.
