Culver-Stockton College invites applications for the position of Assistant Professor of Biology .
This is a full-time, tenure-track position beginning in August 2025. Primary areas of specialty or experience in Cell and Molecular Biology, Genetics, and/or Microbiology is required Culver-Stockton College is a full member participant in the Howard Hughes Medical Institute's (HHMI) Science Education Alliance National Genomics Research Initiative. The successful candidate may participate in teaching an innovative, research-based three-semester course for first-year students as part of this HHMI partnership. This is a traditional face-to-face position in a dynamic experientially based program with some online teaching as needed.
Responsibilities:
- Responsible for teaching undergraduate classes in the major as needed.
- Â Participation in undergraduate research is encouraged through advising and/or formal teaching duties associated
- with senior capstone courses.
- Participate in normal department and division service activities, including committee work, program and course
- assessment, curriculum development, and outreach to the community.
- Candidates should be committed to excellence in teaching and scholarship.
- A strong commitment to recruitment and academic advising is expected.
- Must have the ability to work effectively with students and colleagues and have a strong commitment to
- undergraduate liberal arts education.
- May be asked to contribute to the general education curriculum’s quantitative literacy requirements, as well.
Qualifications:
- Ph.D. in biological sciences or equivalent is by date of appointment or closely related field required.
- ABD candidates will be considered.
- Strong analytical and programming skills.
- Experience in teaching biology and/or related field courses at the undergraduate level.
- Strong commitment to undergraduate liberal arts education and experiential learning, teaching and student success.
- A strong commitment to academic advising is expected.
- Ability to work effectively with students and colleagues from a variety of backgrounds.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
