Job Overview:

We are seeking an experienced engineer with a minimum of 3 years of hands-on experience to join our team. The ideal candidate will be proficient in SolidWorks and capable of creating high-quality, usable drawings for a wide range of purchased parts. The primary objective of this position is to improve the documentation of parts from current suppliers while also evaluating other suppliers for equivalency or potential dual sourcing opportunities.

This position entails collaboration with various departments, including engineering, production, procurement, and our suppliers. The successful candidate will also bring experience in data analysis and part structuring to contribute to engineering efforts effectively.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and maintain detailed and usable drawings using SolidWorks for a variety of purchased components.
  • Enhance documentation practices for parts supplied by current vendors to ensure clarity and compliance with engineering standards.
  • Assess and compare new suppliers’ offerings to existing parts to ensure equivalence and facilitate dual sourcing where appropriate.
  • Collaborate with engineering, production, and procurement teams to gather requirements and feedback on parts and assemblies.
  • Conduct data analysis related to parts structuring to optimize part selection and documentation.
  • Ensure adherence to established document control systems for part prints and subassemblies.
  • Review and analyze product configurations, performance metrics, and assembly processes to ensure product reliability and quality.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
  • Minimum of 3 years of engineering experience.
  • Proficiency in SolidWorks, with a strong ability to generate usable engineering drawings.
  • Experience with documentation and analysis of parts and sub-assemblies, preferably in a manufacturing environment.
  • Familiarity with Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) systems and engineering support functions.
  • Knowledge of Six Sigma practices, especially in relation to tolerancing and analysis.
  • Strong analytical skills with experience in data analysis and part structuring.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills, able to collaborate effectively across multiple departments.
  • Local to the DFW area; this is not a remote position.

Desired Skills:

  • Experience with Draftsight or similar CAD software.
  • Background in the manufacturing of rolling steel doors or similar products is a plus.
  • Familiar with product configuration systems and transitioning data management systems.

If you are an enthusiastic engineer who thrives in a collaborative environment and is passionate about using your skills to improve product documentation and supplier assessment, we encourage you to apply. Join us in building a robust engineering foundation that enhances our production capabilities and supplier relationships.
