Job Description

We are seeking a motivated individual to join our team as an Environmental Compliance Supervisor. This position will serve as the primary point of contact for all environmental agencies and is responsible for ensuring compliance with environmental regulations through effective reporting, sampling, testing, and troubleshooting.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Promote a positive work culture aligned with our values of Safety, Integrity, Quality, Teamwork, and Accountability.
  • Manage the hazardous waste storage site, ensuring proper documentation and training for waste solvents, obsolete radioactive sources, PCBs, and asbestos disposal.
  • Maintain and update Tier II reporting for certification of chemical usage.
  • Participate in and coordinate the preparation of semi-annual and annual environmental reports, ensuring timely submission in accordance with regulations.
  • Supervise union employees and outside contractors in environmental activities, as needed.
  • Collaborate regularly with corporate environmental staff to ensure compliance with current and upcoming environmental regulations.
  • Address complex environmental issues by consulting with the Factory Manager or corporate environmental team.

Air Compliance:

  • Conduct daily opacity tests on air emissions and maintain records.
  • Ensure compliance with emission testing for air quality parameters, including PM10, SO2, NOX, CO, CO2, and greenhouse gases, as per the Title V permit.
  • Monitor and manage factory air emission points such as dryers, boilers, baghouses, and cyclones, ensuring compliance with emission levels and coordinating necessary testing.
  • Monitor hydrogen sulfide levels and apply chemicals to ensure compliance with agreements.

Water Compliance:

  • Oversee and coordinate water sample collection, ensuring proper analysis and addressing wastewater treatment performance issues.
  • Ensure compliance with NPDES regulations and discharge parameters for wastewater treatment.
  • Monitor and optimize wastewater treatment operations for performance and chemical use.
  • Ensure compliance with stormwater collection, treatment, and discharge requirements.

Solid Waste Compliance:

  • Ensure proper management of solid waste, including lime waste and hazardous waste landfills, ensuring adherence to regulations and conducting annual operator training.
  • Oversee solid waste remediation efforts, including monitoring ground water, soil testing, and offensive odor management.
  • Coordinate and complete inspections for the Versa Lime program and other by-product removal programs.

Qualifications:

  • Basic understanding of environmental law, with in-depth knowledge of factory-specific permits and operations.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and administrative skills are essential for ensuring environmental compliance.
  • A four-year technical education is typically required, along with the ability to secure necessary certifications during the first two years in the role.
  • A valid driver’s license is required.
