Job Description Summary: The Patient Care Coordinator performs all clerical duties required to complete patient appointment/procedure scheduling, phones, and performs other related activities. S/he will respond to patients in a timely manner. S/he will provide exceptional customer service, including courteous, helpful, accurate, and proactive communication and problem-solving for patients to ensure that their health care is provided in the most effective and timely manner possible
Job Requirements, Prerequisites and Essential Functions: Pay Range:
$24.13 - $28.96 - $33.79
Essential Functions and Responsibilities: - Answers multiple phone calls; responding to customer requests including, and not limited to cross departmental appointment scheduling, screening and routing calls, takes messages and forward as appropriate
- Responsible in calling Insurance/Payers to check for eligibilities and acquiring prior authorizations for scheduled services
- Communicate with providers regarding scheduling preferences, and ability to respond to urgent patient needs in accordance with established departmental protocol
- Provide doctor-patient support using reference documents and online knowledge base tool
- Participates actively in the achievement of organizational and departmental goals
- Carry out various administrative tasks, including maintaining information and paging directory databases, and processing internal forms
- Utilize all functionality of the telephone system and electronic medical records system in performing assigned job tasks
- Resolve patient problems of a limited scope and complexity
- Observes confidentiality and decorum in conversation and behavior
Qualifications: Education: - High school diploma or General Educational Development (GED) certificate required.
- Completion of business school or related training, including computer courses preferred.
Experience: - One (1) years of progressive responsibility and directly related work experience
- Experience with, and proficiency in, electronic medical records: Use of EPIC software a plus
- Computer proficiency: Microsoft Office.
- Bi-lingual in Spanish desired
