Position Summary
The Service & Beverage Manager is responsible for supporting the Operations Director by training, developing, and managing all FOH team members, managing day-to-day operations, maintaining high standards and conditions, fostering a positive environment, and managing the beverage operations of the business. They must also play an active role in maintaining relationships with building management and vendors, participate in and oversee special events at The Weather Room, and actively support brand and marketing partnerships. Job Duties & Responsibilities

Leadership & Operations

  • Oversees front-of-house service and daily operations.
  • Collaborates with the Operations Director to develop operational procedures and service standards.
  • Maintains all employee training documents and information guides.
  • Provides hands-on training and development during service for all staff.
  • Provides regular updates on employee service changes, performance, and labor to the Operations Director.
  • Participates in leadership training and staff meetings, representing The Weather Room with a positive and collaborative attitude.
  • Ensures adherence to Company food and drink recipes and service standards.
  • Lead daily pre-shift meetings, updating staff on operational and service changes and encouraging an open-door environment. 
  • Ensures that all opening duties, server checkouts, and closing duties are performed daily to standards, delegating this responsibility when appropriate. 

Employee Development

  • Assists in hiring all FOH staff in accordance with Company budget and operational needs.
  • Leads, inspires, and trains teams, ensuring adherence to the Weather Room’s values and standards.
  • Fosters a culture of development and continuous learning within the team.
  • Distributes regular workplace updates and ensures new company initiatives are supported by staff.
  • Aids in conflict resolution between team members or guests, using the Company complaint handling procedure.
  • Participates in performance evaluations for all FOH team members.
  • Manage FOH staff employee relations and disciplinary action, with support and collaboration from Human Resources and the Operations Director.
  • Collaborates with HR on employee performance, career development, and talent management.

Service, Food, & Beverage

  • Develops outline of service standards and training materials, in collaboration with Operations Director and COO.
  • Ensure the entire space looks, smells, and feels great (lighting, temperature, bathrooms, cleanliness, and seating arrangements), collaborating with the COO, CMO, and Operations Director on any aesthetic changes.
  • Enhance and strengthen guest relationships, established and new, recognizing regular guests and VIPs.  
  • Maintains training materials on beverage items, including cocktail recipes and history.
  • Develops NA beverage, cocktail, beer, and wine offerings with approval by COO.
  • Maintains inventory, ordering, and pricing on all beverage items, as directed by Operations Director.
  • Oversees food service and training, in collaboration with Culinary Consultant.

Marketing & Brand

  • Prepare seasonal/occasional beverage options for CMO review and use for TWR marketing campaigns.
  • Collaborate with the CMO and Operations Director on securing beverage brand partnerships in accordance with annual budget planning.
  • Provide brand partnership deliverables for CMO and Operations Director review in a timely manner, free from errors.
  • Support temporary service changes or special events requests through staff training, space design updates, and special menu planning.
  • Understand and communicate The Weather Room’s values and brand philosophy to customers and staff and set the tone for a positive work environment. 
  • Promote The Weather Room’s vision while establishing us as an innovator within our industry.
  • Participate in The Weather Room’s publicity opportunities and community outreach. 
  • Act as the on-site liaison for photography and content needs, ensuring offerings presented are on brand and look appealing.
  • Assist with sourcing promotional items and merchandise.
  • Support the aesthetic curation of the space, including overseeing floral arrangements and additional service elements as directed by the CMO and COO.

Business Acumen & Compliance

  • Coordinates with the Operations Director on staffing, schedules, and cost control.
  • Aids in daily, weekly, quarterly, and annual financial reporting.
  • Assists with cash management functions, ensuring adherence to loss prevention standards.
  • Supports payroll processing and reviews time punches for discrepancies.
  • Assists with ordering and inventory management, as delegated by the Operations Director.
  • Supports company compliance with wage and hour laws and employment requirements.
  • Maintain a strong understanding of company background, core values and philosophy. 
  • Maintains strong business relationships with key stakeholders, including building management, Top of the Rock employees, vendors, and partners.
  • Adhere to all company safety and sanitation policies and procedures.  
  • Perform other work-related duties as assigned. 

Work Experience & Education Requirements

  • 3 years of FOH management in a fast-paced restaurant environment, with an emphasis on experience managing beverage programs.
  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Hospitality, Culinary Management, or a similar subject is a plus.
  • NYC Food Protection Certificate required.
  • TIPS Certification is required.

Essential Functions  

  • Able to lift up to 30lbs.
  • Able to communicate effectively in both written and spoken English.
  • Polished and professional personal presentation, inclusive of proper hygiene and grooming requirements as outlined in the Employee Handbook.
  • Able to work a variable schedule including some nights, weekends, and holidays per the needs of the business.
  • Able to walk, stand, carry, and bend for at least 6 hours at a time.
  • Ability to travel by car and public transportation as needed.
  • Demonstrate leadership, ethics, and team development abilities.
  • Be adaptable in a fast-paced environment and proficient in various tech systems, including Toast POS, 7Shifts, and Google Drive.
  • Able to work in an environment that may be exposed to hazardous situations and conditions that produce cuts or minor burns.
  • Able to be exposed to hot and cold temperatures, such as when working near ovens or retrieving food from freezers.
  • Able to work with common kitchen ingredients and potential allergens.
  • Able to wear protective and safety attire, such as gloves.
