Job Description
The Staff Occupational Therapy Assistant, under the direction and supervision of an Occupational Therapist, is responsible for assisting with patient evaluations, program implementation and the utilization of techniques and modalities necessary to provide competent occupational therapy services to patients. Work is full time during weekdays with occasional evening and weekend work. Work is performed at the clinic with some work occasionally at the residential site or in the community.

JOB TASKS:

Contributes to the evaluation process by implementing delegated assessments, and by providing verbal and written reports of observations and patient capacities to the OT.
Performs re-assessment and discharge planning under supervision of an OT if OT reviews and interprets the information provided by the OTA and integrates that information into the decision-making process. Follows documented OT treatment plan for patients
Reports verbally or in writing (according to patient/carrier/company needs) in conferences, staffings and other meetings to inform necessary personnel, insurance carriers, patients’ families, and patients (as appropriate) of patient testing, treatment and progress.

Under supervision of OT, consults with patients, families, and therapists as appropriate from various clinic disciplines to instruct, advise or inform them of procedures and tests.

REQUIREMENTS:

OTA Associate Degree from accredited OTA program required.
Certification as OTA by the National Board for Certification in Occupational Therapy (NBCOT) required.
Current licensure in state employed
Knowledge and experience with sensory integration is recommended and preferred.

The wage range for this role takes into account the wide range of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions including skill sets, experience, education and training, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs. It’s not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the range for their role and compensation decisions are arrived at each unique case. A reasonable estimate of the current salary is $64,000/year.
