*Overview*
The Registered Nurse Supervisor plays a crucial role in overseeing nursing staff and ensuring high-quality patient care within a healthcare facility. This position requires a strong clinical background, exceptional leadership skills, and the ability to manage various nursing operations effectively. The Registered Nurse Supervisor will work closely with medical teams to implement best practices in patient care while maintaining compliance with healthcare regulations.
*Responsibilities*
Nursing Duties:
* 1. THE NUMBER ONE RESPONSIBILITY IS TO KEEP PATIENTS SAFE AT ALL TIMES.
* 2. Nurses must ALWAYS only practice within the scope of their license.
* 3. Stabilize patients according to protocol ordered by the licensed providers.
* 4. Responsible for rendering all nursing assessments, evaluations, and consents based on the individuals and level of care where you are stationed.
* 5. Ensures that all daily documentation and updates needs are completed by the end of the shift.
* 6. Follow all intake procedures, including but not limited to assessments, body checks, medication verification, order/medication entries, and monitoring.
* 7. Educate patients prior to administering medications. DO NOT GIVE PATIENTS MEDICATION WITHOUT INFORMING MEDICATION NAME, DOSAGE, AND PURPOSE.
* 8. Takes verbal orders from the Medical Director or Provider, documents them in the patient record, and carries them out accurately and professionally.
* 9. Transcribe all Provider medication and protocol orders accurately within the EMR. Nurses must not enter orders or provide medications without an active order.
* 10. Administer and monitor medications based on best practices, state requirements, and Joint Commission standards.
* 11. Nurses must never give patients medication that does not belong to them unless it is stock medication.
* 12. Must label medications based on the manufacturer’s requirements (opened, expiration date, etc.).
* 13. Complete and document all patient safety checks assigned to the nursing team.
* 14. Must always keep medication carts locked, medication rooms locked, and medical materials and supplies secure out of the reach of patients.
* 15. Must review emergency preparedness manuals and all medication management policies.
* 16. Establishes a compassionate environment by providing patients emotional, psychological, and spiritual support (Professionally).
* 17. Protects patients and employees by adhering to infection-control policies and protocols, medication administration and storage procedures, and controlled substance regulations.
* 18. Promotes patient independence by establishing patient care goals, teaching patients to understand their conditions, medications, and self-care requirements, and answering questions.
* 19. Maintaining team continuity by documenting and communicating actions, irregularities, and continuing needs.
* 20. Maintains patient confidence and protects operations by keeping information confidential.
* 21. Maintains a cooperative relationship among the team by communicating information; responding to requests; building rapport; participating in team problem-solving methods.
* 22. Follows the incident reporting policy and procedure in reporting any potential safety issues.
* 23. Develops and maintains effective working relationships with staff, management, and other team members.
* 24. Exercises good judgment and discretion in deviating from the policy in circumstances where strict adherence would pose a risk to the patient, visitor, staff, or facility.
* 25. Nurses must maintain an active license. The supervisor MUST be notified if the license becomes inactive, suspended, or terminated.
* 26. Resolves patient problems and needs by utilizing multidisciplinary team strategies.
* 27. Maintains a safe and clean working environment by complying with infection control procedures, rules, and regulations.
* 28. Other Job Duties – As Assigned
Supervisory Duties:
* 1. Supervise all nursing staff to ensure that all nursing documentation and nursing care requirements are met pursuant to regulatory standards and practice and are in compliance with all licensing and credentialing regulations and standards.
* 2. Inspect open and closed medical charts regularly to ensure compliance with QI & QA Policy & procedures and all other regulatory, funding, and clinical and medical standards.
* 3. Complete and monitor all logs and inventories based on the department’s policies and procedures.
* 4. Ensure all required nursing services and protocols are met and delivered in a timely manner and pursuant to regulatory standards and requirements.
* 5. Develop and implement departmental policies and procedures as needed to address patient and/or staff issues and needs.6. Responsible for recommending and ensuring regulatory staffing patterns & managing the annual budget under the Director of Nursing’s direction.
* 7. Maintains nursing supplies inventory by checking stock to determine inventory level and reporting needs.
* 8. Ensure all nursing staff comply with HR and personnel policies and procedures.
* 9. Provide mentorship and guidance to supervisory-level personnel as needed to help maximize managerial performance and ability.
* 10. Responsible and accountable for managing direct reports.
* 11. Evaluate the work performance of all nursing personnel and facilitate ongoing feedback/appraisal.
* 12. Provides objective feedback to nursing staff.
* 13. Make appropriate compensation recommendations, if applicable.
* 14. Provides appropriate department training and hold staff accountable for attending required training.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $75,000.00 - $85,000.00 per year
