Overview:
As a Lab Assistant 2, you'll play a key role in our cutting-edge laboratory by handling tasks like specimen accessioning, preparing slide trays, organizing and filing blocks and slides, and ensuring the smooth operation of the lab.

Responsibilities:
Responsibilities:
Receive specimens into the lab.
Release orders in LIS.
Prepare 70% and 80% ROH solutions following proper procedures.
Recycle ROH and Xylene.
Change solutions on H&E stainer daily.
Prepare specimens and blocks for grossing.
Perform tissue embedding upon completion of in-house training and competency assessment.
Prepare blocks for techs after embedding, including cleaning and organizing blocks before tech microtome cutting.
Assist with H&E slide preparation, including loading and unloading slides into/from auto-stainer, and operating the cover slipper.
Prepare slide trays and requisitions prior to delivery to pathologists.
Daily, weekly, and periodic cleaning of lab equipment and tools as per the schedule.
Dump formalin vials and neutralize formalin following proper procedure.
Record daily lab temperatures on QC sheets.
Receive and stock general lab supplies. Perform monthly inventory as assigned.
Record orders on work lists and pull blocks for techs.
File slides, blocks, and requisitions.
Adhere to compliance policies and complete necessary training.
Perform other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
Education:
Associate’s or Bachelor’s Degree in a science-related field required.
Previous experience in a lab environment preferred.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Must be flexible with hours to meet workflow demands.
Knowledge of general medical terminology preferred.
Ability to type at least 45 words per minute with minimal errors preferred.
Strong attention to detail.
Excellent customer service, communication, and organizational skills.
Friendly, cheerful, tactful, and polite demeanor; compassionate and caring.
Ability to multi-task, prioritize appropriately, and work both independently and as part of a team.
