Job Description
Senior Accountant
Full-Time

The Senior Accountant is responsible for the day-to-day accounting function as described below.
Maintain all bank accounts and reconcile cash weekly; this includes working with billing to ensure that A/R subledger cash is applied correctly weekly as part of the cash reconciliation process
Maintain weekly cash forecast of upcoming payments / deposits and manage cash transfers
Manage the monthly close and close calendar and ensure that all tasks are completed timely each day of the close.
Prepare variance explanations (current month versus prior month) by entity monthly prior to finishing the close so variance explanations can be reviewed by management prior to closing the period.
Suggest improvements that will streamline / shorten the monthly close process.
Reconcile all balance sheet accounts by entity monthly and maintain the account recon tracker by entity monthly as recons are completed so management can review / approve recons.
Maintain the general ledger (adding/deleting accounts to/from the chart of accounts as approved, establishing and maintaining recurring and auto-reversing journal entries).
Assist on the year-end Financial Audit and prepare PBC items
Follow established policies and procedures, help ensure compliance with internal controls, and suggest improvements proactively as appropriate.
Update Sr. Accountant process documentation as processes change (quarterly).
Educational Requirements and Experience required
A Bachelor’s degree in Accounting.
Solid knowledge of accepted accounting principles. CPA certification is preferred.
Experience with Sage Intaact a plus.
3-5 years of experience working as a Sr. Accountant on a G/L Accounting Team.
Non-profit organization experience a plus
Ability to work well with others and foster a teamwork mentality.
Good computer skills, including a thorough understanding of the Microsoft Office.
Intermediate Excel skills
Impeccable integrity and confidentiality
Good balance between detail-oriented and deadline-driven.
Ability to simultaneously work independently and as a positive contributor to a good team environment.
