We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Insurance Defense Paralegal to join our clients growing legal team in Orlando. The ideal candidate will have substantial experience in insurance defense, assisting attorneys in all phases of litigation, including case preparation, discovery, motions, and trial support.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist in all aspects of insurance defense litigation, including personal injury, property damage, and general liability cases.
- Draft and prepare legal documents such as pleadings, motions, discovery responses, and settlement agreements.
- Manage and organize case files, ensuring all documents are accurately filed and deadlines are met.
- Prepare discovery requests and responses, including document production, interrogatories, and depositions.
- Coordinate and assist with depositions, hearings, mediations, and trials, including preparing exhibits and evidence.
- Communicate with clients, insurance adjusters, opposing counsel, and court personnel to gather information and resolve issues.
- Conduct legal research on relevant case law, statutes, and regulations to support defense strategies.
- Prepare and maintain litigation timelines and case management calendars.
- Assist attorneys in preparing for trial by organizing trial binders, witness lists, and exhibits.
- Review and summarize medical records, police reports, and other relevant documents.
- Ensure compliance with court rules, statutes of limitations, and other legal requirements.
Qualifications:
- Associate’s degree in Paralegal Studies or related field (Bachelor’s degree preferred).
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in insurance defense or personal injury law.
- Strong understanding of insurance defense procedures, including discovery, motions practice, and trial preparation.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and legal software such as case management tools and e-filing systems.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and work under tight deadlines.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise discretion in all aspects of work.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Paralegal certification (NALA, NFPA, or equivalent).
- Familiarity with Florida civil procedure and insurance laws.
- Experience with deposition and trial preparation.
