Quality Control Chemist – Mead, CO
Type: Contract (6 months, potential for conversion)
Shift: 12hr shift (see below for more detail)
Pay Rate: $25-$30/hr
We are seeking a QC Chemist I/II. This position will conduct quality control analysis on substances to support our Production, Pilot Plant, and R&D groups utilizing quantitative and qualitative analysis. The QC Chemist I/II will utilize appropriate analytical methodologies and instrumentation to perform all duties.
This is an hourly, 12-hour shift position. The QC Chemist I/II schedule is a day shift with a start time of 6:30am to 6:30pm. This position has the potential to transition into a night shift, from 6:30pm to 6:30am after a sufficient training period. All night shift hours pay a shift differential. The weekly rotation is:
Week 1: 36 hours worked on Sunday, Wednesday, and Thursday
Week 2: 48 hours (includes 8 hours of overtime pay) worked on Monday, Tuesday, Friday, and Saturday
Job Responsibilities
QC Chemist I
- Performs analytical tests with the guidance of an experienced or Lead Chemist
- Focuses on final testing, but also performs in-process testing with guidance within 3 months of start
- Follows work instructions and test methods for product testing under supervision
- Consults batch records and developmental test methods for pilot plant testing
- Prepares laboratory standards and reagents
- Performs analyses safely and participates in safety improvements
- Performs instrument validations and maintenance with supervision
QC Chemist II
- All duties of QC Chemist I in addition to below
- Independently perform work instructions and test methods
- Validates laboratory standards and reagents
- Performs instrument validations and maintenance with minimal to no supervision
- Peer review results when needed
- Troubleshoot methods and participate in method development under guidance of Lead Chemist
- Identifies safety and quality improvements
Qualifications
QC Chemist I: Bachelor's degree in Science with zero to three years of industrial experience
QC Chemist II: Bachelor's degree in Science with two to five years of industrial experience
Experience
- Basic wet chemistry experience
- Experience running experiments in safe manner with proper PPE
- Experience reviewing data
- Experience working in controlled environments and glove boxes preferred
- Quality control experience preferred
