Job Description

Job Title: Calibration and Repair Technician

Location: North Chicago, IL

Hire Type: Onsite, Contract-to-Hire (convert to direct-hire at 9 months)

Target Pay Rate: $40.00/hour (W2, with full employee benefits)

Job Summary:

The Calibration Technician will perform calibrations of utility equipment and instruments within a manufacturing environment that measure the characteristics of objects, substances, or phenomena, such as pressure, temperature, time, force, torque, speed, flow, electric current, voltage, resistance, and derived units of physical, mechanical, or chemical measures.


Job Duties:

  • Calibrate various measurement instruments throughout the utilities department.
  • Instruments requiring calibration may include temperature transmitters, pressure transmitters, pressure switches, backflow prevention switches, conductivity meters, flow meters, chlorine monitors, gas analyzers, valves, level probes, and other instruments.
  • Troubleshooting and repair of in-service equipment.
  • Installation of new equipment.
  • Calibration data entry and asset management into the company's database tracking system.
  • Communicate and coordinate with outside vendors.
  • Follow metrology department's standards for calibration.
  • Other related duties as assigned.


Qualifications:

  • 2+ years of prior Metrology/Calibration experience is necessary.
  • Must possess practical knowledge of Metrology and measurement practices.
  • Must possess knowledge of related quality systems and practices (i.e. ISO 17025, ANSI/Z540-1).
  • Must have analytical skills to identify sources of measurement error and to read and interpret technical schematics, specifications and calibration procedures.
  • Technical knowledge of utility equipment and instruments used in pharmaceutical or medical device manufacturing is a plus.
