Korn Ferry has partnered with our client on their search for the role, Production Manufacturing Leadership Role, Building Materials, Kansas City, Kansas.


An international leader in the manufacture of residential and commercial building materials located in a Kansas City industrial district has an urgent need for experienced Manufacturing/Production/Shift Leader at their key Kansas City, Kansas area manufacturing facility. The Production Shift Leader will manage and oversee all shift operations in a manner that enhances the plant’s safety, engagement, cost, productivity, efficiency, quality, and customer service.


Located in the Northeast Kansas City area, home of the reigning Super Bowl Champion Kansas City Chiefs and near the Kansas Speedway the plant and surrounding areas have convenient access to all that Kansas City offers. From Kansas City BBQ, to fountains and jazz traditions Kansas City offerings are as strong now as they have ever been. With the free-flowing BBQ sauce, musical notes and championship football and racing, each is a testament to the city’s culture and heart.

Ideal Experience/Leadership traits include:

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, Business, or related field preferred but will consider non-degreed candidates.
  • Experience in manufacturing, industrial, or related environment preferred.
  • Union experience preferred.
  • Experience leading and building effective work teams to increase plant performance and drive continuous improvement initiatives
  • Six Sigma or Continuous Improvement exposures preferred.
  • Proactive leadership approach.
  • Experience training operators on problem solving skills, and coach through resolution.
  • Must have ability communicate customer expectations throughout the Operations Department, and ensure all products meet customer standards and requirements.
  • Direct experience in safety training/job training personally instructing your employees.
  • Total Productive Maintenance (TPM ). a plus.
  • Ability to set and manage KPI’s.


Candidate should have strong people skills with the ability to bring a “coaching” style of management. An ideal candidate should be personable, a collaborator and the ability to mentor. Should have experience overseeing 20+ hourly workers.
