Position Summary: On a daily basis the Registration/Insurance Supervisor oversees the function of registration and insurance verification/authorization including authorizations for Deborah Specialty Physicians and Ivy Physical therapy.  The supervisor works to support all aspects of this process, providing problem solving and resource information for staff that performs the above function.  In addition, this persons works as a liaison with the Finance Department to assure that patient information collected by the staff accurately depicts the patients correct information.  Is responsible to prepare and/or support programs developed and implemented by the Department Director.  Responsible for timely authorization of all testing and procedures.  May be responsible to provide supervisory coverage in the absence of the Department Director and/or other supervisory personnel.               

Experience 3 to 5 years hospital or health care setting providing patient access, registration and/or billing services preferred.  Excellent communication skills required.  Previous supervisory experience preferred.

Education

High School GED requivalent required. AS preferred.

License and Credentials  

Preferred: Coding certificate

Skills

Required: Proven organizational, customer relations, decision making, and critical thinking skills. Must have experience in medical terminology and knowledge of basic clinical functions.  Experience in insurance authorization and referral management.

 Hours: 80 hours per pay period
