Job Description
Responsible for evaluation and treatment of patients referred for Speech/Language Pathology services by a referring physician. Develops plans of care for patients after evaluation. Discusses plan with patient and or parent/guardian. Assists patients to obtain maximum performance and function in society while learning to live a routine “normal” life within the constraints of their disability. Participates in performance improvement activities within the department. Assures personal competency and maintains licensure. Provides information related to departmental budget considerations in relationship to Speech Pathology needs for optimum patient care and service. Works closely with the front desk for scheduling of patient visits and helping ensure insurance authorization when needed. Maintains timely documentation and charges per department guidelines. Participates in infection control, safety, computer optimization, and educational programs, both in the department and on an organizational basis.
Qualifications
KNOWLEDGE/EXPERIENCE: Knowledge of principals and practice of speech pathology. Knowledge of infection control, sterile technique and related impact on rehabilitative medicine practice and equipment. 1-5 years experience working as a speech/language pathologist with some experience in a rehabilitation setting preferred.
EDUCATION: Holds a masters degree from an approved college or school of speech/language pathology.
LICENSE/CERTIFICATION/REGISTRY: Eligible for certificate of clinical competence. Current State Licensure in speech pathology (as Speech Pathologist) required. Current BLS certification.
