  • CVICU RN
  • This unit used to be SICU and recently changed to CVICU. SICU experience with post cardiac surgery experience (not directly from OR) required. For this role, manager will review candidates who have any ICU experience with a focus on Medical ICU and CCU.
  • Start Date: ASAP (4 weeks from offer for compliance requirements). Orientation for this unit will be held bi-weekly on Mondays. i.e. 1/20, 2/3, 2/17 etc.
  • Shift: 3x12 Nights (1900-0730)
  • Ratios: 1:2
  • Years of Experience REQ: Minimum 2 yrs RN experience, but one year Required recent Critical Care Experience. Looking for strong critical care RN who has post open heart, post carotid artery stenting, transvenous and epicardial pacemakers, PA cathers, Art line and management of blood pressure abnormalities with parenteral vasoactive agents. I am interested in the traveler's proficiency in: Next Stage CRRT, IABPs, Impella, TTM (altrix) and if they would like to continue to practice their skill at SHRB.
  • Epic Experience REQ? 1 year of Epic experience is required.
  • First-Timers Accepted: I am looking for a trained nurse with experience. Would prefer an experienced traveler with 2-3 prior completed assignments.
  • Weekend REQ: Must be open to working any and all days.
  • Certs REQ: Required: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS;
  • Skills REQ: Must have CVICU in work history. Interpretation of dysrhythmias, Management of dysrhythmias, Multi-system organ failure, IV insulin protocols, Arterial line management, Blood Product Administration, Central line care/management, PICC line management, Starting IVs, Continuous IV sedation, Emergency Medications, Titrate Cardiac drips, Titrate Vasoactive drips, Assist with management of BiPAP, Assist with management of CPAP, Care of Ventilated Patient, High Flow Nasal Cannula (HFNC), Interpretation of ABGs, Suctioning (ETT, NT), Ventilator Management, Infection Prevention, Isolation Precautions/ Use of PPE, Phlebotomy, Surgical Wounds with drains/Wound Vac.
  • Is on-call REQ? No
  • Will clinician float within scope to meet facility needs? Yes, Travelers float between CVICU and NTICU. Also float to Telemetry, Acute Care (neurology, Surgical, Ortho/Med) Obs, ED boarding. MUST BE OK WITH FLOATING!
  • Locals Accepted: No
  • Pending License Accepted: Yes
  • RTO Restrictions: Traveler are there to fill the gaps. Will not approve more than 1 GWW of PTO. Manager always need 13 working weeks and allows RTO for one Holiday.
  • Guaranteed Hours: 36 per week
  • Top 10 Diagnosis/Procedures: CLINICAL OVERVIEW: Open heart, MI, Impella, IABP, trauma, neuro, proning, CRRT, NextStage CRRT, massive transfusion policy. CABG, Donor, MI, Post cardiac arrest, Post surgical care (Whipple, Liver resection, Amputations, Post cardiac surg etc.), Resp distress, DKA, Sepsis, GI bleed, Overdose, Nitric Oxide
  • Any special procedure done on the unit? Insertion of Chest tubes, central lines, PICCS, bedside tracheostomy, Keo tube placement, IO insertion, Codes, Massive transfusion team, back up for Hospital Cardiac Arrest Team, & back up for Rapid Response Team, intubation, & Cardiac cooling catheter (Zoll), cardiac cooling pads (altrix), removal of femoral cath.

  • Orientation for this unit will be held bi-weekly on Mondays. i.e. 1/20, 2/3, 2/17 etc.
  • Traveler Orientation Checklist - Send to traveler prior to start. This must be brought on the first day and will be completed at orientation. Traveler must send a copy of the completed checklist back to Aya. Aya Compliance Liaison will submit this back to the facility contact within 30 days of start.
