Internal Medicine Physician at BAS Healthcare summary:

The Internal Medicine Physician will conduct medical disability examinations primarily for veterans on a per diem basis. Responsibilities include interview-based evaluations and physical assessments without prescribing or treatment, along with report completion and administrative duties. This position requires familiarity with various medical conditions and quick onboarding processes, including potential training and certification opportunities.

Location: A city in Southeastern Arkansas offering a blend of history, culture, and natural beauty, making it a unique and welcoming place to live and visit in Arkansas. Approximately 45 miles outside of Little Rock! Opportunity available in another part of Arkansas as well. Facility: A private company that provides medical disability examination and evaluation services to the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs.

Opportunity:
  • Need is on a PRN basis, ongoing
  • Willing to accept these specialties: family medicine, internal medicine, orthopedic surgery, etc, or anyone with a background in general medicine, or experience with compensation and pension.
  • Two (2) options for coverage - Travel and perform exams at leased facility and/or schedule Veterans within your own practice
  • Option to work days(4-hours) and/or full days(8-hours)
  • One-Time non-treatment C&P exams + separation health assessments
  • Exams are primarily interview-based with some physical assessment: range of motion testing, muscle strength testing.
  • No prescribing, no treatment
  • Quick credentialing & onboarding
  • DMA certification available (can get CME credits) will need to obtain once privileged if not already certified
  • Use of Goniometer required
  • Familiar with Musculoskeletal, Diabetes, and Cardio required
  • Proficient in METs testing, evaluating and diagnosing respiratory, cardiovascular, and neurological conditions.
  • Own personal laptop (NO MACs)
  • Training shall be provided for all Reporting/Disability Benefits Questionnaires (DBQs)
    • Reporting/DBQs must be submitted within 48 hours upon exam completion - no narrative report. End product is completion of standardized form(s).
  • Evaluations to be completed in provider portal
  • Record review is required in most cases
  • Follow up administrative work will be required on a regular basis (addendums, medical opinions, and reading diagnostics)
  • Providers needed - 3
  • No call!
Compensation:
  • Half-day Rate -flat rate for 4 hour shifts or less (includes times to complete exams, submit report, including any addendums, no OT)
  • Daily Rate - flat rate for 5 hour shifts or longer (includes times to complete exams, submit report, including any addendums, no OT)
  • Bonus - one time bonus for completing all required training and performing first exams
  • Local candidates only, travel included in rates
