PA license Required; DEA; BLS, ACLS, ATLS Patient Assessment: Perform thorough history-taking and physical examinations for patients of all ages presenting to the ED. Triage patients based on acuity and prioritized care accordingly. Order and interpret diagnostic tests, including lab work, X-rays, CT scans, and EKGs. Diagnose and manage a broad range of conditions, from minor illnesses and injuries to life-threatening emergencies. Perform common emergency procedures, such as: Suturing lacerations Splinting fractures and dislocations Incision and drainage of abscesses Placement of IV lines and central lines (depending on credentialing) Lumbar punctures, joint aspirations, and foreign body removal Assist with advanced procedures like intubation, chest tube placement, and resuscitation under physician supervision. Manage patients presenting with conditions like chest pain, respiratory distress, abdominal pain, trauma, and sepsis. Stabilize critically ill patients until they can be admitted to the hospital or transferred to a higher level of care.
