Job Summary:

Seeking a versatile corporate counsel candidate to support a range of legal needs across Tokio Marine North America’s business units, including: insurance regulatory compliance, insurance transactional work, privacy and cybersecurity issues, record information management (RIM), general corporate reporting and governance. This is a generalist role that will work closely with multiple departments, advising on a range of issues as opposed to specializing in a single discipline.


Essential Job Functions:

  • Establish and build strong working relationships with Tokio Marine North America’s (TMNA) Business Units and management.
  • Advise TMNA business units in corporate transactions including negotiating and drafting necessary transactional documentation.
  • Manage outside counsel (Regulatory and Transactional) as needed.
  • Oversee issues related to privacy, cyber-security, records retention and AI.
  • Provide Business Units with insurance regulatory advice and legal consultation, evaluating regulatory risk in conjunction with business goals.
  • Liaison to Internal Audit and Compliance Departments.
  • Provide advice and direction to Business Units on compliance matters.
  • Communicate:
  • strategic responses to legal senior management.
  • legal issues to business partners and internal clients.
  • Develop and manage compliance training in purview of legal department.
  • Analyze industry and monitor regulatory environment to develop methodologies for the organization to respond to any opportunities or difficulties identified.



Qualifications:

  • JD degree required with admittance in PA or NY.
  • 2-4 years’ combined experience at a law firm specializing in insurance regulation, at an in-house legal department or equivalent.
  • Experience with insurance companies and regulation helpful but not required.
  • Broad expertise and working knowledge of multi-state insurance regulatory matters.
  • Knowledge, insight, and understanding of business concepts and processes that are needed for making sound decisions in the context of the company's business; ability to apply this knowledge appropriately to diverse situations.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office, and strong knowledge in Microsoft Excel preferred.
  • Superior writing and communications skills.
  • Superior customer service orientation toward Business Units (responsive, consultative, collaborative and accurate).
  • Superior project management skills: Plan, organize, monitor, and control projects, ensuring efficient utilization of resources, to achieve project objectives and deadlines.
  • Strong interpersonal relationship-building skills: able to work with a variety of people and groups in a constructive and collaborative manner.
